Help refugees

My name is Elisabete Maisao, and I'm an independent photojournalist, human rights activist, and currently, a volunteer in the greek refugee camps.

I first went to Calais, in France in 2015, planning to spend a few days documenting the horrific crisis facing European refugees. Those days turned to weeks, then months, and before I knew it, I'd spent the winter working through most of the refugee camps in Europe, from Calais to Lesbos.

When I came back home, I felt that I had to do more. So I decided to return, this time to Idomeni in Greece, where thousands of refugees are living in filthy, dangerous, and inhumane camps.

Right now, I'm spending half my time doing volunteer aid work, and the other half capturing images to share the terrible reality of the Idomeni camps with the world, in the hope that the situation will change.

I'm raising money so I can continue my work in the camp, distributing food, clothes and basic necessities, and to continue my work as a photographer. The money will cover my basic expenses for 2 months, including a basic accommodation, food, local transit, and camera equipment maintenance.

The atrocities across Europe are dramatic, and I feel we all can make a difference in the lives of these refugees. Please join me by contributing to this fund.

Thank you so much for your support.

Love,
Elisabete
