Eulogy for Jordan David Carter
On January 23, 2004 a precious miracle, Jordan David Carter, was born in Baltimore, Maryland. Although his start in life was rough, God had his hand on this life from the moment of his birth. At two days of age, Jordan was given in to the foster care of Juanita Carter whom God had lovingly chosen to begin to mold the life of this child. Even though his early development was slow, and doctors predicted this would continue, Jordan proved them wrong. He had a natural joy and inquisitiveness to life that few will ever match.
On May 27, 2008 Juanita Carter officially adopted Jordan through the Court of Baltimore City. He was so excited at the courthouse that he charmed everyone around him, including the judge. Juanita’s prayer was that Jordan would one day be a preacher. Over the next six years of his life, this prayer came true. Jordan’s life preached God, and he impacted many lives through his witness and faith in Jesus Christ.
On January 27, 2009 Jordan made a decision that would forever change his life: he chose to trust Jesus as his Savior and Lord. That single decision allowed Jordan to grow to be a young man who would love God and serve Him.
On April 2, 2010 Juanita Carter passed into heaven. Guardianship and legal custody of Jordan was given to Cinderella Warden on August 16, 2010. From the time Jordan was brought to Grace Bible Baptist Church as a newborn, he was part of the Warden family. God already knew this and had placed a special love for Jordan in their hearts. He continued to grow up surrounded by the congregation at Grace and his friends at grace Bible Baptist Christian School where he attended until the school closed in 2013. He was then home schooled. He loved going to church and learning about God. He played soccer and basketball and loved spending time with his friends and family.
On January 8, 2014 Jordan was diagnosed with T-Cell Lymphoma. Even as he battled cancer, his personality was such that he positively affected every one of his doctors and nurses. Through the early days of his illness, Jordan endured a lot of pain, but he didn’t complain. He approached cancer and everything that comes with it with grace. As treatment failed to cure his illness, Jordan faced death with the same passion and vitality that he faced life.
On July 27, 2014 Jordan’s fight ended as he was called home to be with the Lord and was reunited with his mother in Heaven.
One of Jordan's favorite verses is Philippians 4:13, "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me." Certainly, these last few days especially, Jordan lived out before us the truth of this verse as he "walked through the valley of the shadow of death" and was not afraid. He trusted His Savior implicitly and with grace, courage and a spiritual maturity and faith beyond his 10 years practiced Philippians 4:13. Jordan is a member of Grace Baptist Children's Choir and at approximately 2:30am Sunday morning he joined the heavenly choir singing and worshipping Jesus in person.

This past week a few members of theTowson University basketball team stopped by to see Jordan and playMario cart and a mean game of basketball in the living room. I understand Jordan held his own and even won a few games. Thank you guys!! (The Towson University basketball team recently adopted Jordan as their mascot.)
Jordan's Story:
Little did anyone realize this past fall that Jordan's breathing problems would lead the a diagnosis of t-cell lymphoma and a tumor growing on top of his heart and lungs. At first the chemo and radiation administered by the capable Johns Hopkins doctors seemed to be working, but the tumor began growing again and it became obvious that Jordan would not win this battle.
Jordan has now been given hours to live. He will soon enter heaven to meet his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
His family's dilemma:
Jordan is a foster child and to his foster family he is their child. They and their church family have sacrificed to give Jordan many wonderful memories these last several weeks.
But now his death is imminent and so plans must be made. As a foster child the state of Maryland will only provide for cremation. This child is not deserving of a proper funeral and burial because he is a foster child????!!! This is unacceptable to this family. They want to provide a proper funeral and burial near the family plot for this child they love. Please help them.
