On August 25th, 2016, the area of the Marche, Umbria, and Abruzzo regions in Italy was hit by a powerful and deadly earthquake. Since then many people have been moved out of their condemned homes and relocated into temporary lodging facilities, composed mainly of travel trailers, motorhomes, and camping tents. Many schools buildings were also severely damaged. Students have been transferred to temporary facilities that often lack basic school supplies. This is the case for “Simone De Magistris” middle school, located in the historic town of Caldarola, in Macerata province, in the region of Marche. Matteo is particularly attached to these places since he spent many wonderful summer vacations there when he was a little boy. Therefore, we wanted to find a simple but effective way to help them. To that end, as part of a volunteering project for our High School graduation requirements, we, Matteo Ferramondo and Gianmarco Starke have decided to raise money for those young middle school students. We have often been in touch with school representative and students for the last several months in order to understand what kind of supplies the school was in need of. In fact, it was following a skype call with one of the classes that we were told that most of sports supplies were damaged or lost under the ruins. We believe that these supplies can bring a light of happiness on the young students of this middle school, who are all going through some tough times.

We want to thank you in advance for the kind support you will provide.

Matteo Ferramondo,
Gianmarco Starke
