Buying and restoring a GWR 2800

We are a Small team who are trying to purchase 28xx Class Locomotive 2859 from the Llangollen Railway and restore her to her original Glory.
No 2859 was originaly built by the Great Western Railway in 1918 and survived until withdrawal by British Rail in 1964. She was sold to Barry's scrapyard where she remained until purchased and transferred to Llangollen where she has remained ever since.
Her current owners have made her available for sale to help fund the restoration of their other Locomotive and this is where the 2859 Locomotive Group has stepped in with a view to purchasing her and restoring her to full working order.
The initial £40,000 is to fund the purchase of the engine and have her moved to another suitable location for restoration. We will at that stage be arranging the funds for the purchase or build of a tender in addition to the costs of restoring the loco herself.
It is our aim to have her restored completely in time for the 65th anniversary of her withdrawal in 2029. The total cost of this restoration will come to £750,000 at current prices.
We look forward to that day and welcome your help to enable us to return this grand old lady to the silver metals.
