Burpees For Evelyn

On Friday Aug 31st Evelyn Roy was taken into the Children’s for what her parents thought was a possible appendix issue. Instead they found a large mass in her abdomen.
The Doctors immediately ordered a CT Scan. There was a mass which was approximately the size of a softball. Evelyn had an MRI at 9am Sunday morning to further define the diagnosis. After an MRI, The doctors originally thought it was coming from her liver but later confirmed that it was coming from her adrenal gland. The doctors then ordered a biopsy.
The biopsy confirmed that Evelyn’s mass is Neuroblastoma, which is a type of cancer. The next steps were MIBG scans and surgery to remove the tumor and adrenal gland affected. Evelyn underwent 7 1/2 hours of surgery on September 25th to remove her tumor. Dr’s are calling it a “great success” as they were able to remove the entire tumor.
While in the OR Evelyn also had a medcomp put in and 4 bone marrow aspirations. The medcomp allows the medical team to draw blood and administer medication and chemo through it.
Evelyn is now on the road to recovery from surgery and will begin chemo therapy in 2 weeks. You are a warrior Evelyn!
Burpees for Evelyn has been started to help Evelyn and her family along this long journey they are about to endure. It is an old school pledge fundraiser with gofundme as an easy way for individuals anywhere, including outside of Canada, to get funds to the Roy Family.
