Bunkers for Brian
Donation protected
Real Heroes don’t wear capes. They wear bunker gear.
Courage is looking fear right in the eye and saying, “Get the hell out of my way, I’ve got things to do.”
I would like to introduce you to one of our local community heroes. Brian Dahl is the Director of Emergency Services for Cayuga County, a member of the Regional Emergency Medical Services Council (serving Cayuga, Cortland, Onondaga, Oswego and Tompkins counties), and the Vice President of the NYS Emergency Management Association. He is a lifetime member of Throop Volunteer Fire Department, starting the Junior Fire Service at 16. He is an ALS EMT and Throop’s current fire chief. Brian has always given of himself.
In Brian's 37-plus years of service and 35 years as a chief and officer, he's seen it all, including people who have hit rock bottom — overdosing on drugs or drinking themselves to near death. He has given up sleep and family time in his service to others whether it is managing the disaster zones for local floods or wildfires, an accident scene, ambulance call, or coordinating a fire scene to try and save a home. Brian has never looked for acknowledgement or a simple thank you. Now Brian needs our help. He is facing a double organ transplant for his failing liver and kidneys.
I am organizing a benefit fundraiser, Bunkers for Brian, in his honor to help with the out of pocket and medical expenses not covered by insurance.
A Community Event fundraiser is also planned for August 20, 2017, 12 p.m. – 5 p.m. at theThroop Fire House at 7159 Beech Tree Rd., Auburn NY.
