Bungalow for Brendan

Brendan is a 13 year old boy who is severely disabled with profound care needs. He is facing a spinal fusion operation this summer - only a few months away - because of drastically worsening scoliosis that is literally crushing his internal organs. Brendan requires a properly equipped, suitably modified bungalow for his lone-parent mother to safely continue her full time 24/7 care of him,  especially when that operation is completed. Brendan, his younger brother Declan, and their mum Tracy currently live in a rental home that doesn’t meet those requirements. There is no suitable social housing available and the wait list is years long. This loving family needs a bungalow by the time Brendan undergoes the spinal fusion operation or he won’t be able to come home after the surgery. This cannot be allowed to happen!

If you would like to help this family finally get a safe, suitable, modified bungalow for Brendan, you can donate one of three ways:

1. By making a deposit via online transfer or in person at any AIB branch to Brendan’s special *in care account for an incapacitated person*:

IBAN: IE57AIBK93137303785065
ACCOUNT: 03785065
SORT CODE: 931373

2. There is also this option of donating here via GoFundMe, but be aware they do take approximately 3% of each donation.

3. Via Paypal as a gift.

* NOTE: If social housing is provided before a bungalow can be purchased privately via this fundraiser, your donation will be returned in full upon your request. If you donated via GoFundMe, your donation will be returned less the processing fee they charge per donation (approximately 3%).

All donations will be directly deposited into the special bank account in care of Brendan. This fundraiser was established by his mother, Tracy.

You can follow Brendan's journey on his mother's blog: www.transitioningangels.com

The past few days, there has been such a tremendous outpouring of support and kindness and empathy for our situation. It has restored my faith in community and humanity in many ways. I cannot express my appreciation adequately for the numerous lovely messages received. They've encouraged me in many ways to keep going. THANK YOU!!! One of those was the idea of suggesting people donate €13 as Brendan Bjorn is 13 years old. I think it's been a great idea! Where we are today, 20th May, we need just 18,425 people to donate €13 each and the fundraiser goal will be met. I have to remain hopeful that our family won't be split up after Brendan's spinal fusion surgery this summer. I know, with community spirit, we can make sure this doesn't happen. Blessings to each of you who have donated and/or shared this fundraiser! xxx

There have been €2,395 in donations and a pledge of €5,000 so far. THANK YOU SO MUCH! The kindness and support to obtain a suitable, safe Bungalow for Brendan has been tremendous and heartwarming! Please feel free to share on Twitter and Facebook. If 25K people can donate just €10 each, or 12.5K people can donate €20 each - the price of a lunch out - Brendan could have his required bungalow for safe, suitable care for his complex medical needs. Together, it can be done. Many thanks! xx
