For five years, I have been the blacksmith of a single story. The story of the Gök Türks ("Celestial Turks"). Through my YouTube channel, Khan's Den, I hammered their saga into shape with videos and two published books. I gave it a voice with music and brought it to life with animated scenes on social media. I have even tempered its history in the pages of a future encyclopedia.

But the forge always had one final purpose: to craft the ultimate tribute.

Finally, with the right tools and a clear vision, the dream of a true, historically accurate, and exciting movie is over. The Göktürk movie is about to become a reality.

The Project: A Cinematic Journey into the Past

This movie, "Bumin's Destiny", is a cinematic narrative documentary chronicling the origins and rise of the Turkic Ashina Clan of the 5th to 6th centuries. Using a blend of cutting-edge AI-assisted digital animation and meticulously handcrafted artistry, I will tell their story not as a dry lecture but as an epic, character-driven saga.

Their Chinese neighbors called them "Tüküeh"; their own designation was "Türük," the origin of the name TÜRK. Also known as the Göktürks, these steppe warriors of the Altai Mountains believed they were blessed by Tengri – the Sky God – to liberate their clan and unite the Turkic tribes under one banner. In just a few years, they forged the largest steppe state the world had ever seen, surpassing even the mighty Xiongnu and Huns.

This film will answer the great questions:

My vision: Forging Turkic History anew

This won't be a typical documentary like in past Khan's Den videos. My vision is to create an immersive experience that transports you to the 6th-century steppes. I want you to feel the biting wind of the Altai Mountains, hear the clang of the blacksmith's hammer forging the tools of rebellion, and hear the thunder of a thousand hooves in a visceral cavalry charge.

The visual style will be inspired by the raw beauty of the Eurasian landscapes, combined with artistic interpretations of historical artifacts. As much as possible, I choose historical authenticity and fill in the gaps wherever necessary.

The story of Bumin and his brother Istemi will be at the heart of it all: a tale of brotherhood, ambition, rebellion. The original musical score, echoing the "Drums of Liberation" from my trailer, will provide the epic heartbeat for their journey.

Why I Started This GoFundMe

I have dedicated five years and poured all my resources into building this world and telling this story, and much more. Khan's Den is not my main job, as I am already occupied with a full-time job elsewhere. But this is my passion project.

So the foundation is laid, the anvil is hot, and the hammer is ready. But to forge this film to the highest standard—to give this incredible piece of world history the epic treatment it deserves—I need to assemble a fellowship of supporters.

ABOUT ME

I am Emre-E. Yavuz, the man behind Khan's Den on YouTube where I upload video documentaries about Steppe and Turkic peoples, as well as YavuzArts which is dedicated to high-quality historical artwork and music. I am indeed doing all the work myself – well, apart from the imagery and some music that is made by the AI, of course. However, since the start of Khan's Den in 2020 I have done almost all of the work myself: from research to script-writing, production and video editing, sound effects and maintaining a steady social media presence.

But this would not have been possible without the support of my loyal fans and followers whom I owe a great deal (and my family which supports me emotionally!).

Aside from video production, I wrote two books about the Göktürk Empire in 2022 and 2024.

Bringing ancient steppe peoples back to life, my mission is to challenge misconceptions and make Turkic history accessible to a global audience. My current project is a manga based on the Göktürks.
