Bucks for Brock

Anyone who knows Brock Powell knows he spends all his time doing so much for other people. He can be found volunteering with many organizations, helps with food drives, coaches multiple sports with Special Olympics, holds a position on their executive council, and the list goes on and on. He does all this while holding a full time position with Home Base Housing. He adores his family and always makes time for them, regardless of his schedule. There is nothing he won’t do for you, and now it’s time for all of us to step up and give back to this remarkable young man.

Brock was recently diagnosed with testicular cancer.  After taking himself to the hospital when he knew something wasn’t right (his stubbornness finally pays off!), he was given the news. Before the shock could wear off for him and his family, doctors made quick decisions to start treatment right away. He began his first 5-day chemo cycle on Saturday, January 20 with three weeks of rest and recuperation to follow. This routine will repeat for three more rounds, after which surgery will be discussed.

Brock is the strongest person we know. He is in good spirits, continuing to show strength physically and mentally. His family and friends are supporting him with around the clock care, visits, and distractions. It is a long road, but Brock is expected to make a full recovery. We are all behind him, 100%.

Brock will be off work for the next six months as he battles and beats this disease. We are raising funds to help alleviate the strain of loss wages, rent, bills, and medical care. We know Brock would be the first person to help any of us, and any monetary support given will add up to and surpass our goal.

Keep checking back to Bucks for Brock for pictures, stories, and medical updates. We will also keep everyone in the loop on where the funds will be used. We thank you all for your concern, prayers, and support for Brock and his family.

Happy Easter everyone!! What an incredible weekend! Friday was our Blood for Brock donor clinic and over 40 bags of blood were collected in Brock’s name! Annnnnd, BROCK IS FINISHED CHEMO!!! His last treatment was Friday and he rang that symbolic bell like a champ!! Now comes the rest and recuperation before surgery in 4 to 6 weeks. We are well on our way, folks! Brock is feeling more tired after this round and needs lots of rest, but his determination is in full force. We are so proud of the way Brock is pushing through this journey!!

As always, Brock and his family are overwhelmed and so grateful for the continued support, prayers, and love sent their way. Please know that even if you don’t receive a reply right away, your messages and well wishes mean so much and help in so many ways. Thank you a thousand times over!

Happy Sunday, troop!

Brock rocked his second round of chemo, with great numbers allowing him to come home yesterday afternoon. He is doing well, but is very tired. We are giving him as much time as he needs to rest and gain back strength and energy, so please text or call before visiting.

Brock wants everyone to know how much he appreciates your donations, but even more, he thanks everyone for your love and support. He has started using some of the funds to cover rent and basic necessities, and all your generosity has allowed him not to worry about these things and focus on his health.

As always, your prayers, well wishes, and support make a difference to Brock and his family. Thank you!

With love,

Good Morning, friends!

We have some great news ... Brock came home on Friday! After deciding to leave his gall bladder at KGH, Brock rested up and was able to head home Friday afternoon. Even though he is still sore and resting, Brock has been keeping a close eye on all your generosity, and sends his heartfelt thanks to each of you. He is in great spirits and is looking forward to seeing as many of you as possible (please just call or text before any visits!). We still have a long road to go, and Brock is paving the way with his strength - a huge part of that comes from all of you!
