Buckingham Elementary Lunch Debt

Buckingham STEM Elementary in Bend, Oregon serves students from a wide range of backgrounds. Located on the edge of our town, Buckingham has city kids, and farm kids; kids from apartments, and kids from acreage. While about 50% of the students qualify for free or reduced breakfast and lunch, a significant number of families pay for school meals - either at a reduced rate or full price. As summer nears, there is over $800 in outstanding school lunch debt. As families are scrambling to arrange summer childcare, many are strapped for cash. Saving Buckingham families from having to catch up on outstanding school meal debt will allow families a little extra financial cushion for summer. Erasing the debt also means that students will start next school year with a "clean slate" and access to school breakfast and lunch.
