Buckeyes Against Domestic Violence

In response to recent events involving coaches at The Ohio State University, the Buckeye Nation, and the country as a whole, have become divided over what disciplinary actions should be taken on our head coach Urban Meyer. This debate has lead to name-calling, accusations of victim-shaming, and even questions regarding a persons loyalty to their university. 

But we are forgetting the big picture.

Domestic violence is never okay.

Regardless of which side you support when it comes to Urban Meyer and his employment by The Ohio State University, it can be said with almost 100% accuracy that we ALL are against domestic violence. It's never okay, no matter who you are or where you come from. 

As support for Urban Meyer is shared, and rallies are organized, claims of victim-shaming and even claims of supporting violence against women are being spread about the people involved in supporting Urban Meyer.  What if we channeled our energy to the greater good of our University and our community? What if those who support Urban Meyer, along with those who may not, came together in support of a common cause? 

I feel like this controversy could be silencing others who have been victims of domestic abuse, given the enormous controversy this has brought. 

That's not okay. Domestic violence is never okay, and no one should suffer in silence.

This isn't about the responsibilities of a head coach, and what should have been reported and when, this is not meant to divide us further.

I am doing this to unite Buckeye Nation against domestic violence and abuse.

This fundraiser is for Choices in Franklin County, Ohio. The same county where Ohio State University is located. They offer Temporary Emergency Shelter, a 24-Hour Crisis Hotline, Domestic Violence Counseling, Legal Advocates, Peer Support Groups, and even a Community Awareness Building. 

Together, we can rally to pay it forward. To help one another.
