Bubba's Handicap Accessible Vehicle
Donation protected
Hello family and friends…My name is Beverly Nicole Newman and I started this Go Fund Me page on behalf of my cousins Anita Thompson and her special needs son Amar Mekhi “Bubba” Thompson to help them raise funds to purchase a reliable “Handicap Accessible Vehicle”.
Bubba was born on July 2, 2003 with a rare genetic epileptic disorder called Dravet syndrome that only affects an estimated 1:20,000 to 1:40,000 people. Dravet syndrome causes Bubba to have multiple seizures several times a day. He suffered his first seizure at the tender age of 10 months old. By the age of two, Bubba began to have “Grand Mal” seizures that left him unable to speak by the age of 3. At the age of 7 Bubba had been on several medications and his seizures were so uncontrollable that doctors placed a (VNS) Vagus nerve stimulation device “pacemaker for the brain” in his chest to help control the seizures. Unfortunately the VNS didn’t stop the seizures either. So, doctors took drastic measures and removed a piece of Bubba’s brain which caused him to start exempting stroke like symptoms and caused him to lose control of the right side of his body. By the age of 10 Bubba lost his ability to walk. Bubba has been hospitalized close to 100 times over the years. This past year alone he has been intubated 5 times because the seizures get so uncontrollable when he gets sick from a simple cold.
Bubba’s mother Anita, has a 2004 four door Honda Civic. The car is literally starting to fall apart and is not suitable for a special needs child that is wheelchair bound. It is very difficult to get the wheelchair and Bubba in and out of the vehicle. Bubba has several doctors’ appointments that require Anita to make a 2 hour drive from the small town of Overton, TX to Dallas, TX.
Family and friends, Anita is doing the best she can to raise Bubba and provide for him on a limited income. All we are asking is that if you can find it in your hearts and budgets to make a small donation to help Anita purchase a reliable Handicap Accessible Vehicle to help Bubba have a better quality of life and help assist him with getting the best care possible. Any and all amounts will be greatly appreciated and bless them tremendously.
Anita and Bubba can reach their goal if:
10,000 people gave $1
5,000 people gave $2
3,334 people gave $3
2,500 people gave $4
2,000 people gave $5
1,667 people gave $6
1,430 people gave $7
1,250 people gave $8
1,111 people gave $9
1,000 people gave $10
It is a blessing to be a blessing!!
