Dad's Cancer Treatment

My dad has been fighting chronic skin cancer for over 30 years, having spent his life working as a painter in the sun to support his family. He has had countless surgeries and treatments to remove cancers such as basal cell carcinomas, squamous cell carcinomas, melanomas and even rare types of skin cancer. He has undergone everything from radiation treatment to plastic surgery for his cancers! Thankfully because of our health care system, this has mostly all been free. That is until now. Because of where my dad lives, and QLD health's ideas of "catchment areas" my dad is part of the Toowoomba catchment and thus has to go to the only hospital in the carchment that does the type of treatment he needs. Unfortunately this is a private hospital and specialist treatment, and the costs are going to be over $300 per day for treatment over 5-6 weeks. Add onto this travelling and accommodation costs, it is just too much for a pensioner to afford.

The nasty cancer is a malignant BCC on my dad's nose. If he were to have surgery, he'd lose half of his nose and cheek and it would be major surgery at his age. Thus radiation therapy is the best course of action.

My dad has spent 30 years working for his children, taking care of us and helping us grow into decent adults. Now he is retired on a disability pension due to his cancer, is single and has no income. One thing I can do for him at this stage is try to support him financially through this difficult time. That's why I am asking for your help!
