Help Bruce Almighty Recover
$24,667 of $5,000 goal
Bruce Almighty was found on the evening of March 18, 2015 in Regina, SK, Canada when he wandered into a yard in the northwest area of the City. Gravely concerned by what they saw, the homeowners immediately called the Animal Protection team at the Regina Humane Society.
Officers responded and the young cat, estimated to be between two and three years old, was found with electrical tape tightly bound around his legs and paws. The tape, which had severely restricted circulation over time, had caused massive tissue loss and infection in the extremities. The cat, who had no identification, collapsed into the arms of officers late Wednesday evening and purred as they began the delicate process of removing the bands which had destroyed his limbs.
“Bruce Almighty” named for his fierce determination and will to live, underwent hours of emergency surgery as RHS veterinarians attempted to save his legs. While the Society is hopeful that enough healthy tissue remains to keep his legs and the infection can be treated, his status remains very guarded.
“The pain and suffering he has endured is unimaginable” said senior RHS Animal Protection Officer B. Lerat. “He is fortunate that a caring member of the public alerted us to his whereabouts. The public really is our eyes and ears when it comes to reporting cases of neglect and abuse involving animals.”
We are seeking to raise funds to help cover the significant cost of Bruce Almighty's treatment and recovery. It is expected that one of his legs will need to be amputated by Shelter Veterinarians and he will need ongoing wound and infection care. Any donation, no matter the size will make a huge difference for Bruce Almighty. Any money raised in excess of the goal will be used to help other animals at the Shelter in need and will also be used to provide further animal protection and cruelty work by the RHS.
The Society receives no government funding for enforcement of animal cruelty laws and relies solely on its community of donors to continue this important work.
All donations will receive a tax receipt from the Regina Humane Society.
This case is being treated as an open investigation we urge anyone who recognizes the cat or knows anything about the case to please contact Regina Humane Society’s Animal Protection Services.
I love coming to Bruce Almighty's page here and seeing the new pictures of him as he is recovering. It's truly inspiring to see what the staff at RHS has been able to do for him and how much support he has been receiving from all over the world. It makes my heart ache in a good way for a change. His eyes tell a story themselves of how much he must appreciate what is being done for him and he looks better with every picture we see. The best day ever is going to be when we see him in the arms of his forever family but in the meantime, please keep the updates coming. I know it makes my day better and I'm sure it does all those who are following his progress. Please give him a HUGE HUG from all of us. Many thanks again to RHS and his specialists for your loving care of him. God Bless you all!!
Oh Bruce Almighty! You so make us all smile. We are all SO happy to see you thriving in your new environment. I think that if ever the human's need to raise funds they should have a meet and greet with you!! So many of us have followed your journey and would love the opportunity to say hi in person!! Just a thought! But anyways Mr Bruce I send you love.......continue to live well and to provide us with photos!
Isn't he just the Cat's Meow!! Thank you Karen for sharing this adorable picture of him. So happy that he is doing well and enjoying his new family and home. He will never be forgotten by those of us who didn't have the opportunity to meet him personally. He is always in our hearts and prayers. Many thanks again.
This is the day we have all been waiting for and I couldn't be happier. He looks so good and peaceful in her arms and from just the little we can see of her, she gives us the peace of mind knowing he will be loved and cared for the remainder of his life. This story has touched me to the core and I, too, will never forget Bruce Almighty and everyone who has been involved in giving this little guy a second chance. It is also great that his story has brought about the opportunity to give many others the same benefit. Six weeks ago I had to send my oldest guy over the Rainbow Bridge and it still hurts so much. My remaining nine fur babies and I continue to hope and pray that every fur baby out there finds their forever family who will give them the life they deserve. Once again, may God bless each and every one of you out there who has stepped up for the humane treatment and love for all God's creatures. Thanks also for all the updates. MUCH LOVE TO YOU ALL !!!
Hope Bruce is doing well
OMG, he looks soooo much like my Mitzi! Is he large and solidly muscular? Because I believe he is a ragamuffin like my Mitzi! Wish I could post a photo, and she doesn’t have the V on her face, but everything else is so similar!
So thrilled to see that he's doing so well and thriving as a happy and contented kitty despite all that he'd been through...
What a beautiful little boy. I think of him often. Thanks so much for sharing this baby and updating us after all this time. Lots of kisses to him!!
So glad to see he is doing well!! ❤
Such a great outcome for this wonderful boy. He deserves his good home and suppers, and the few extra pounds! So cute!!
This was one of the saddest stories I ever came across - now it’s one with the happiest ending. I am thrilled to see Bruce looking happy and well. It is amazing to see what good people can do to overcome the truly heinous acts that are inflicted on the vulnerable. Bruce (and your family) - I am so happy for you. And to the RHS - you are a model for all humane societies.
Thank you so much for giving him a wonderful and loving home he deserves. This just made my day a little brighter ! What a sweetie he is. Thanks for the update.
