Briana is full of energy and it's known for her abilities to help others. At school she has always been the to-go girl when other kids have problems. She has always been a loving, high spirited, caring, independent young girl.

On January 14, 2016, Briana was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). She has been fighting and underwent several intensive rounds of chemotherapy, which kept her in the hospital for 8 months. On July of 2016, Briana received a bone marrow transplant. She was declared on remission shortly after.

Unfortunately, Briana has relapsed. A few weeks ago, she developed two lumps on her head which were  malignant tumors and had to get them removed. She also has another one on her eye that is too complicated to remove surgically, therefore; she started radiation therapy for it. Briana will also need more treatment in the months to come. She has shown all of us the strength that she has, and her positive attitude defines her. She is determined to beat this horrible cancer.

Anyone that has gone through this knows how hard this is and what a huge emotional and financial impact it takes on the family. For others we can only imagine it and pray for her and her loved ones. I am asking to find it in your hearts to donate to help Briana's family raise money to cover some expenses. Any little bit counts and I am sure together we can make an impact.

Thank you and most importantly please continue to pray for Briana.

Update:
After several tests done for Briana, doctors have diagnosed Briana with Graft Versus Host Disease (GVHD). A condition that occurs when donor bone marrow or stem cells attack the recipient. The condition can be mild or severe and it can attack one or several organs. This has prevented her lungs to get better and her platelet counts to come up. She has started a new medication for it and will continue to be monitored closely. Please keep her in your prayers as she continues to fight.
We will be forever grateful for your donations and for all the love we have received throughout this difficult journey.
Thank you once again for all your support!
Actualizacion:

Update:
Our warrior Briana's last Bone Marrow test came back negative, and with NO evidence of disease! Thank you Lord for this miracle, and thank all of you for always praying and thinking of Bri. We are extremely proud of Briana and all that she has overcome.

She continues to struggle with the lung issue and has shortness of breath frequently, doctors have recommended portable oxygen for her to use as needed. They have yet to determine whether her lungs are just deteriorated from the Pneumonia, or if she has GVHD (Graft Versus Host Disease). Unfortunately, we will not know until another Bronchoscopy is done. We are praying that is just the infection being stubborn and that it would go away with the new meds that she's on.

The plan is to monitor her closely and hopefully send her back to school soon. She will also be on chemo for one year as a maintenance regimen and to maintain her in remission - which means a lot of time spent in the clinic, and a lot of blood work to ensure that her counts, platelets and hemoglobin does not drop significantly.

The road to recovery is long and with a lot of ups and down but we are certain that she will surpass all of this. Please continue to pray for her and keep those positive vibes coming our way. As always thank you for any donations that you make, it's always appreciated from the bottom of our hearts!

Actualization:

UPDATE:
We're home for the holidays! After 100 days of being hospitalized - and some truly scary times along the way - we are thrilled to let you all know that Briana is finally back at home, in her own bed, thanks to great medical care and all of your prayers.

Thank you Lord for always guiding the way and pulling all of us through this. We knew that a second bone marrow transplant was not going to be easy, but if anyone could do it, it's Bri! We are incredibly proud of her strength and her commitment to getting stronger everyday. She continues to amaze us all with her drive - she hopes to back in school by the early spring - and her fierce fighting spirit. She really is our hero.

We want to give a tremendous thank you to all of Briana’s doctors at HUMC for the excellent care that they’ve provided. And a HUGE shout-out all the nurses and staff who took Briana under their wings to make her feel better. Their care, compassion and love really pushed and encouraged her, even on the hardest days. We will forever be grateful for the incredible care we received - we are so lucky to have a medical team as capable, kind and compassionate as ours.

Of course, it's not over yet: Briana will still have to wear a mask in public places. She still has to be very careful with what kind of food she eats. She won't be able to go back to school until her immune system and counts are fully recovered. And we will spend most of our days in the HUMC clinic to monitor her closely as she continues to recover.

But while the journey is far from over, everyday we feel stronger as a family, and our hearts are bursting with gratitude for all of your support, donations, love and prayers. As you can imagine, this whole ordeal has taken a huge toll on our family physically, mentally and also financially. Not being able to work since January of 2016 and the cost of cancer including insurance deductibles, extended stays at the hospital and day-to-day expenses for a family of 4 has been tremendous.

Please know that we appreciate everything that you do for us and any donations that you give us are truly and humbly appreciated. One day, when we are back on our feet, with two healthy girls in our home, we hope to do what you have done for us for other families. And we know that day will come sooner than we realize.

Thank you all once again for all your support and please keep your powerful prayers for Bri coming as she continues to bravely fight this beast we call cancer.

Actualizacion:
