We are Joerik and Pauline from The Netherlands. One year ago we decided to quit our jobs, our house and leave behind our precious friends and family.
We felt a big urge to step out of the daily predictable life. Resticted by organized society we somewhere had a strong feeling that life has more to offer. So we took a dive in to the big unknown. Adventure!
In July 2015 we started started backpacking. First India, then Nepal and Indonesia. It has been the best decision ever made. There were a lot of beautiful places, people and moments but also many hard ones, confronting lessons... We've learned so much these past 7 months. It has brought us closer to ourselves and closer to eachother.
At this moment we are back in India and launching our plan: Bring us Home: a 13.560 km. trip from India to Holland. Let us first introduce ourselfs a bit more before we explain all of it.
The first three months in India were fabulous. Wow what a country! It felt good to be free. Totally free! After a few weeks something unexpected happend. At the source of the holy river the Ganges me [Joerik] got on his knees and proposed to Pauline. We've been together for almost 4 years then. But Pauline never expected this since I always kept telling her marriage is old fashioned. But it doenst have to be that way! After India and climbing the Mt Everest base camp in Nepal we got married in Ubud, Bali on december 12th 2015. It was just her and me. Exactly how wanted it. We plannend the whole thing during our travels and it was the best day ever!
After the wedding day we were so lucky to have a group of best friends staying with us for three weeks. Celebrate the wedding, Christmas and NY. When they left and our 2 month visa ran out we took a plane back to our favorite country:India. That's where we are now.
So far our travels have been rich. We've seen a lot, met great people and most important have been learning a lot about ourselves and our relationship. So is this enough? Time to come home? For us at this moment: yes. Traveling in countries like this you start to re-appreciate your home country for many and many small things. So we slowly feel like coming home. Find a new career, new house and use all the experience we gained during our time away. But a flight would be to fast and mostly to boring for our taste.
We have a plan: Bring Us Home
With our last money we will buy (in march) an old van and build a bed inside. Your right, our last money. So....13.560 km from home and no money. We hope to do an overland trip all the way to Holland. How long it will take us and how far we will get we don't know and will mainly depend on help from others. People like you, your friends, relatives, anyone.
Anyone can donate an amount of kilometers. 50, 100 or even 1000. Every donated kilometer brings us closer to home.
'So I can donate kilometers. What's in it for me?' I hear you say. You always get something back from us. For example: if you donate 150km (€25) we'll send you a local postcard and write you about our adventures during our (your) 150 kilometers. You can even get your (business) name on our van! On our way we will allso buy fairtrade local products and make them available through this page. By buying one of these products you support small local businesses and bring us closer to home. Have a look what we more have to offer!
Our goal is to share and inspire. Show others that taking a risk, like quiting your job and start traveling always turns out for the better. Choosing to chase your dreams instead of holding on to fear! Like, Share and Donate if you support this idea.

The money we are asking we will spend exclusivly on food, transport, vehicle maintenance, visas and other neccesities. Our goal is to reach Holland. We are aware that the're a lot of obstacles we have to face. This way we can't guarantee our sponsors anything. We hope we will get there in the end.
