Hi, I'm Alex, a multiply-disabled neurodivergent genderqueer individual. I'm in the process of adopting this beautiful calico kitty, Thea, from her current people—D and S assure me she's very cuddly, she just isn't at all fond of other cats, and they have other cats. Thea, D and S think, would make an excellent emotional support animal, and my therapist and I agree the presence of an emotional support animal in my life should improve my mental health and my ability to cope with the various ways in which life is Fun. If all goes well, D and S will be bringing Thea to me the weekend of May 13.
The catch is financial: I'm broke. I am confident that I can make room in my existing monthly budget to take care of Thea, but I do not have the up-front money to take her home.
Thus, this fundraiser:
INITIAL GOAL: $400
pet deposit: $250 (we hope this will be waived because Thea is an emotional support animal, but I don't want to take that to the bank just yet; better to have the money and not need it than need it and not have it)
kitty food, litter, and other regular whatnots: $35/mo * 3 mo = $105 (this monthly estimate provided by another friendly local cat person, who thinks it's a little high—hopefully that's true; I want a three-month cushion for ongoing expenses so I am not stressing immediately about how to pay these expenses)
kitty litter box, toys, and other one-time whatnots: $33 (this budget item tweaked a little to result in a nice round initial goal)
GoFundMe's cut: 3% = $12
STRETCH GOAL ALPHA: $1450
in-case-of-Thea-emergency fund: $1000 plus rounding error (having this money on hand in case something goes wrong with Thea will mean dramatically reducing a major source of my anxiety about things potentially going wrong with regards to Thea)

(I have a lot of debt. The more thoroughly this fundraiser funds, the more of that debt I can pay off and the sooner I can do it, and thus the more I can reduce my stress. I am also experiencing multiple high-stress technical difficulties with my phone, tablet, and laptop, all of which—and my decade-old mattress—I would dearly love to replace but haven't the funds.)
If you are able and willing to contribute toward this fundraiser, please do; thank you ever so much for helping alleviate my stress and helping me cope with my disabilities and, most importantly, helping Thea come home.
