Felipe's Race to Recovery

Felipe Endara, who has made a living with his bicycle for over fifteen years, was the victim of a hit-and-run on July 16th.
Having won multiple national mountain bike championships in Ecuador, Felipe is an inspiration for people of all ages. He is a fervent promoter of sports, and passionate about his project to integrate children with Down Syndrome with their families through sporting events. Above all, Felipe always has a very special place in the heart of everyone who knows him.
Feli's life took a tragic turn as he was riding his bicycle back home after training, when he was hit head-on by a vehicle going in the wrong direction to avoid a traffic light. He was left abandoned on the street with severe brain trauma and multiple bone fractures on his face and knees. Fortunately, he was found and taken to a nearby hospital where he was given the medical help that, against all odds, saved his life. He has now undergone two emergency brain surgeries, and multiple procedures to reconstruct his shattered bones.
A month has gone by, and he can now breathe by himself, move his fingers, and swallow pureed food. These small victories are just the start. What Feli now needs most is to start rehabilitation, as there is only a six to twelve month window in which this therapy is effective. Our doctors have recommended a four-month treatment in a specialized clinic in Michigan that has the experience and equipment required for this case, twenty minutes from where I live.
Felipe is one of eight siblings in a loving family that is dedicated to bringing him back to his full potential. Along with his sisters, we have put together this GoFundMe page to help fund the costs of this therapy. Unfortunately, Felipe's insurance does not cover rehabilitation costs, so your contribution is vital to help him recover. I, Gabriela, will use the funds from your donations to cover the costs of Feli’s rehabilitation, his travel arrangements, and any directly related expenses.

About costs:
So far, Felipe has incurred over $120,000 in costs of surgery, ICU, and medical care. The cost of rehabilitation is estimated at $159,390 for six weeks of inpatient care, and an additional $55,846 for the remaining ten weeks of outpatient therapy. We are now raising funds for the inpatient treatment, which is the most critical.
