Ed and Barbara died together in their sleep from carbon monoxide poisoning while vacationing in Mexico. Their family needs financial help to get them home, for funeral expenses and for possible legal fees. Please contribute to help Ed's children, Jen/Rhi and Eric, and Barbara's son, Carl, as they work to handle the challenging logistics through their shock and grief.

Carbon monoxide detectors  are inexpensive and easy to install in your home. Please include that simple act in your tribute to Ed and Barbara.

Hello friends! I wanted to share a big thank you for those who came to dad and Barb's memorial in Albany. It was beautiful to hear the stories shared about dad's witty ways, adventures and his caring heart. Thank you to those who could not make it, but were there in our hearts. This weekend we flew to New Orleans to retrieve his belongings from our cousin Jack and his wife Dawn who kindly held on to them during the last months. We are now driving dad's things across country from New Orleans to California, a final step in this long process. "Alabama Ed" always loved an adventure and this will surely be one to add to the stories. Speaking of which, please let us know if you were unable to attend the memorial and would like a copy of his book. He had just finished it before his death and we had it published this winter-the stories of his childhood and the superhero he both looked up to and became. At some point we will be closing out this gofundme and I hope you will reach out and share stories on the memorial page: www.forevermissed.com/edward-e-winders-

Hello everyone! It has been almost a month since our last update. We have used our gofundme funds and wanted to say how much we appreciate your outpouring of love and support.

We were able to have an incredible "send off" in New Orleans last month, with the treasured experience of having a traditional NOLA Second Line parade through the streets with the Preservation Hall Jazz Band leading us. Amazing and powerful. I can't imagine any other way they would have wanted it. Here are the links to some videos: https://www.forevermissed.com/edward-e-winders-/#gallery/videos

On that note, we would love it if you continue to share your stories with us. It's all we have left, these memories and experiences you have all had with our parents, and we crave and treasure that. Share photos, stories, any memories on Facebook, here, or use this memorial page we have created for sharing: www.forevermissed.com/edward-e-winders-

We would love to have your memories documented for the upstate New York Celebration of Life. You are invited on Saturday, June 29th from 2-5pm. 2-4 are open hours, and 4pm is the ceremony. It will be held at the Albany Historical Society's Ten Broeck Mansion, which my dad would have appreciated. As many of you know, he was a history buff and scholar, as evidenced by the 15 boxes of history books now sitting in my home. :) Here is the invite: https://plus.smilebox.com/play?g=46641427-dd10-4274-aa1b-7897143653ad

Again, so much thanks for your love, your support, your reaching out. Continue to do so, as for us the shock has worn out, we are exhausted from all of the details and legal challenges, and we are now just really taking in this tragic loss. It's a difficult time, now truly felt at the core, and connecting around their memories is so important. Thank you.
