Ed and Barbara died together in their sleep from carbon monoxide poisoning while vacationing in Mexico. Their family needs financial help to get them home, for funeral expenses and for possible legal fees. Please contribute to help Ed's children, Jen/Rhi and Eric, and Barbara's son, Carl, as they work to handle the challenging logistics through their shock and grief.

Carbon monoxide detectors  are inexpensive and easy to install in your home. Please include that simple act in your tribute to Ed and Barbara.

Dear Friends,

Just wanted to share this article with everyone: https://www.nola.com/news/2018/12/lower-garden-district-couple-and-global-philanthropists-die-of-carbon-monoxide-poisoning-while-on-vacation-in-mexico.html

It's a bit more in-depth and speaks to the generosity of Ed and Barbara.

Hey Everyone. Well it's been a long week, that's for sure. I'm (Eric) up with the family in Nevada City- my mom is visiting from Montana for niece Violet's Nutcracker performances. We got back from Mexico early Wednesday morning (read: 3:34am back in Santa Cruz for me) and I played a gig that night. Thank you everyone for coming out and for our friends for playing, it was a blur of an evening- with a swirling mind- but music sure does soothe the soul some. We continue to work with our friends and the policia down south to get all the details and anxiously await the police report- perhaps as early as Monday or Tuesday. Then we will know more to determine any next steps we need to take. We were interviewed for Good Morning America- but breaking news pushed it to be just a web story- for which we are grateful for any platform to help people be safer when they travel this holiday season. Thank you all again for the support and love- we are so grateful for our community of family, friends and even strangers...

We are so humbled by the support- thank you all- it is a comforting thought to know that you are all out there in our time of need. Jen and I are in San Miguel right now. We met with the police this morning to begin figuring things out. We go back there tomorrow to meet again and get more information, a copy of the police report (apparently the copy machine doesn’t work on Sundays) and to retain their belongings. There are some legal and logistical issues that we are working on with Carl and attorney friends. It’s complicated to say the least. We’ll update soon.
