Ed and Barbara died together in their sleep from carbon monoxide poisoning while vacationing in Mexico. Their family needs financial help to get them home, for funeral expenses and for possible legal fees. Please contribute to help Ed's children, Jen/Rhi and Eric, and Barbara's son, Carl, as they work to handle the challenging logistics through their shock and grief.

Carbon monoxide detectors  are inexpensive and easy to install in your home. Please include that simple act in your tribute to Ed and Barbara.

Hi All. Again thank you all for the support- we are still overwhelmed by your generosity and it has helped us get through this time.

We have some updates that we wanted to share with everyone. Things have been somewhat slow as we were waiting for the police investigation to conclude in San Miguel before we made any decisions. As of today the investigation has not wrapped up. However, we decided to go ahead and have our parent's bodies cremated in Mexico last week. We spoke with our attorneys and they had an expert review the autopsy report to make sure it was it inline with best practices and standards. After review, they gave their OK on proceeding with the cremation. We've been working with a funeral home in San Miguel that facilitated the process. Carl and I (Eric) will head down to San Miguel in two weeks to bring their ashes back to the states. At least will have some resolution for this stage of the process. Thank you all again and may this note find you all well. Best, Eric

Eric and I head to Dad and Barb's home in New Orleans this weekend. Will spend much needed time with Carl, and continue the process of seeing what is next for their possessions. They had both simplified their material lives later in life, to make space for their travels and their love of experience over "stuff." This part feels dreaded yet necessary. We are closer than ever to bringing them back, after receiving recently their blood analysis, which offically confirmed CO poisoning in their blood. We are now working with the funeral home in Mexico to start cremation services soon. We will update you all again soon, and again can't say enough about the loving connetions that are feeding us now as we go deeper into this process. -Jen

For those of you not on Facebook, we apologize as we have been giving some updates there. We are in a waiting period, watching the holidays move past us for the first time for us kids without Ed and Barb. My dad had such a playfulness with holidays and it was hard to feel that knowing that my daughter Violet, who is 7, won't experience that gift of that. We have made some movement with the complex details involved to bring them back from Mexico and we are hoping that within the next 2 weeks that we will have some definitive answers for everyone. In the meantime, we wish you love in your worlds, just keep caring for one another, always. Feel free to reach out, and I can share more details one on one - it's good to hear from you all. My email: lintfrenzy@yahoo.com. -Jen
I really love this photo of the two of them.

Hi all. I just want to give an update and share our deep gratitude for all of the support you are giving to us. Not just through gofundme, but we can feel your love and care with your comments, your calls, just your names on here. For myself, the last couple of week have been nonstop with maintaining some day to day normalcy for my 7 year old and helping her navigate her own sadness around her grandparents deaths, trying to work as much as I can while continuing to wade through the details of their deaths with Eric & Carl, let alone all the waves of grief that are coming for us, and I'm sure for so many of you as well. I have not had time to reach out to many of you, and will try to make that effort over the holiday season. Please don't hesitate to call us. Just hearing your voices and kind words about Dad and Barb means so much. Your memories of their presence and impact on the world are getting us through. Some old friends of my dads and some relatives whom we haven't seen since we were kids are on here, and the longing to see you and hug you is so strong. Maybe that's something that could come from this, much cherished and needed re-connections. We should have some updates soon from Mexico. We are just waiting for the investigation to close so that we know what our next steps are and can finally begin plans to return to San Miguel get them back home. -Jen
