Hi, everyone!
My name is Lydia, and I'm raising money for my mother and step father to rebuild the bridge connecting their property to the road. There was a huge storm the night of June 27th causing flooding all over the town of Pine Grove, PA. Many basements were flooded, however for my parents, things were much worse. The height of the water combined with the force of the creek underneath the bridge caused the bridge to collapse completely, stranding my parents and their neighbors, with no other way across. Neither my parents nor their neighbors own most of the bridge, their property begins only a few feet into it. The remainder is owned by another neighbor who refuses to help pay for the costs to rebuild it. As a result, my parents, Alycia and Alan, who are a retired couple, along with their neighbors who continue to miss work due to being stranded, are completely responsible for the costs of a new bridge. I'm setting this up to ask for help, as they are receiving no other assistance and have nowhere else to turn. A footbridge is in the works so they can at least cross the creek on foot, but even that hasn't gone in yet and it has been a full week. In dire need of groceries, my mother crossed the creek on foot in the morning and when she returned that evening, it had begun to storm again causing the creek to rise, once again. Needing to get back over, she crossed again, unable to see the bottom of the creek and was nearly swept away in the current, injuring her leg in the process. Something needs to be done ASAP. My parents have been working with a local contractor to select a new bridge, but as of right now, do not have the means to pay for it. From what I understand, the costs of the bridge will be about $50,000, so that's what I'm shooting for. If you can help, we could not be more grateful for your kindness. If you aren't able to donate, please spread the word to help my parents and their neighbors return to their normal lives.
