Legendary Australian alternative rock and blues bassist, Brian Hooper, was diagnosed with incurable lung cancer last year. Brian's illness has devastated his many friends in the Australian music industry, who are rallying to support him and his family.

The Beasts of Bourbon will re-form to headline a benefit to help their bandmate, with shows in April which will also feature Kim Salmon and the Scientists, Adalita, Gareth Liddiard, Mck Harvey, Rosie Westbrook and further artists to be announced over the coming weeks. Links to ticketing sites coming soon!

It's not the first time misfortune has knocked Brian down.  After a freak balcony fall in 2004, doctors said he would never walk again. They were wrong.

Now, Brian faces the toughest fight of all to get back up again.

If you'd like to support Brian to Get Up Again, you can donate here.  All donations, no matter how small or large, will be hugely appreciated by Brian. If you know others who'd like to help Brian get up again, please share the link to this site.

Funds raised by the benefit and GoFundMe  will be used to help Brian and his family restore a caravan and purhase a suitable vehicle to fulfill the great Australian dream - a family road trip up the coast, or to help fund any additional treatment or needs Brian has as he takes on the biggest fight of all.

Friends, as most of you will be aware, in the early hours of this morning, Friday 20 April, Brian passed away peacefully. He was acutely aware of the tremendous support he had from his adored and adoring family, friends and music fans all over the world.

Brian celebrated his musical life with close to 1,000 people playing with the Beasts of Bourbon at a Melbourne benefit gig last Friday. Perth fans are celebrating his life and the inspiration that he was with a benefit tonight.

All funds raised at the benefit and through this GoFundMe campaign will support his family through this difficult time.

Thank you for all of your support.

Wow, thank you everybody for sharing and donating to Brian. What a generous and caring community of fans and friends and music lovers you are. Every donation is making a difference, no matter how big or small. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

We thought it was time to give you an update on how Brian is going. He's been in hospital for the last 6 weeks or so, overcoming an infection and getting as strong as he can to fight off cancer.

You can find him on facebook and see the fantastic photos of his visitors and family and friends who are so supportive of his fight to Get Up Again.

We've re-set the fundraising goal to see if we can't help him that little bit more as he needs more treatment, support and comfort. Every little bit helps Brian and his family get through and get up again.

He's such an inspiration - go see how he's doing by finding him on good old Facebook, where there's
a stream of great photos of his life.
