Brendan's Epilepsy Journey

Donation protected
Every once in a while, God gives us extreme situations to handle. My family has been fighting a battle for 14 years now with my brother Brendan's epilepsy. This all started when he was 2 years old, and still today there are no answers to help him have less seizures, and a shot at being seizure free. As time passes, his condition is only getting worse. Brendan's treatment started out at Helen Devos Childrens Hospital and now has transferred to Cleveland Clinic. We truly believe Cleveland Clinic is where we need to be to have any chance of our prayers being answered. Because Brendan's seizures have worsened in such a short time, as a single mom, our mom is unable to work because Brendan needs full time supervision, and someone there 24/7. At this time after alot of searching for some help there is no one that can stay with him so she can get back to work. As us siblings do as much as we can, my mom is his sole care provider. Sometimes the seizures are so bad they dont stop, and its back to the hospital for days to a time. He has gone through every test imaginable, and has been so strong through all of it. So as things have progressively got worse, my siblings, and I believe it is time to reach out for help. We are hoping that he will be able to be a brain surgery candidate because he has been declared medication resistant. If he is able to have the surgery in the near future there is no idea of a date mom will be able to return to work. Currently we are going back to Cleveland Clinic on July 14th to have a procedure where they implant electrodes deep inside the brain tissue to try and pick up where the seizures are coming from. He had this procedure done on June 16th but no data was able to be recorded.  I will never forget the time I was sitting in the hospital with him as his big sister, and I'll never forget how Brendan whispered to me "I really hope this is over soon." I looked over at him with pure exhaustion and hope at the same time and said "Me too buddy."
From the bottom of my familys heart, we thank everyone who has followed Brendans journey, and supported us this far. Please Please keep on praying, share this post with all your friends, and donate if you can. Please keep up the hope that soon Brendan will find some relief from multiple daily seizures so he can be a normal 16year old.
