Please come join 10,000 runners from all over the world as we run in solidarity with the Phillippines to STOP sexual abuse of Deaf women and children.
Cause:
According to a recent survey conducted by the Phillipine Deaf Resouce Cenre, 65-70% of deaf boys and girls in the Phillippines have been molested, with a further study revealing that one third of female respondents had been raped. We ask you to help us in raising awareness and implementing projects to STOP sexual abuse of deaf women and children in the Philippines.
The Event:
On Sunday 19 March, cities around the world will be holding a Fun Run / walk to raise funds for and awareness of the Break the Silence Project, as organised by the Phillippine Accessible Disability Services, Inc. (PADS).
Thousands of runners across the Americas, Europe, Asia and Australia will be joining to run in solidarity with the Phillipines to create a global wave awareness of this issue.
Donation:
For those running, we are hoping for donations of at least AUD 25 per participant (but more than happy if you want to donate extra!). The entire donation will go directly to PADS and support programs such as the Break the Silence Project.
Unable to make it?
Don't worry if you cannot make it to a Run on the day! We have many participants doing their own local run to show their support! Just take a photo (selfie!) of your run and add the following hashtags when posting your photo on facebook/instagram
