Give a gift that counts this Christmas/New Year!

~scroll of photos~

We would like to start by THANKING everyone who donated to our campaign for the Monastery in Bigu, Nepal in 2016. You helped us raise $1,361, thanks to you, 67 nuns received each a hat and sweater.

This Christmas/New Year Danielle and I need YOUR help! As you may know in 2015 a magnitude 7.8 earthquake hit Nepal leaving people to face extreme poverty. The Monastery I've been involved with since 2013 was destroyed.

TODAY the reconstruction at the Bigu Monastery continues but we are happy to announce that all the nuns have safely returned home.

THIS CHRISTMAS – we would like to raise funds for the 90 women and children living at the Monastery and provide them each with a WINTER JACKET!

Christmas is a time to give and we challenge you to put a WINTER JACKET donation on your Christmas list!

$10, $15, $20, $50,…or $100 of giving. To us the amount does not matter, give what you can…what counts for us is your support!

If you cannot donate this Christmas or choose to help another charity we ask you to please SHARE this post.

We would like to thank Tashi Phuntsok founder of HGO for organizing, purchasing and distributing the sweaters in 2017 and for his ongoing efforts to support his community.

SO MANY SMILES

Background Story!

2013
I traveled to Bigu, Nepal and volunteered at a Monastery through the Himalayan Guge Organization (HGO) a non-profit organization whose primary focus is to foster and promote health, education, culture and community in the Himalayan region of Nepal.

2015
A magnitude 7.8 earthquake struck Nepal April 25, 2015 – followed by a magnitude 7.3 temblor 17 days later killing nearly 9,000 people, more than 22,000 injuries, more than 600,000 homes were destroyed, leaving hundreds of thousand of people broken and faced with extreme poverty. Unfortunately the earthquake affected people I knew personally and destroyed the Monastery he volunteered at, home to many.

2016
Danielle and I booked a trip to Nepal and launched a successful Bigu Earthquake Relief Fund campaigned that raised a total of $1,361. We were overwhelmed with the generosity and support from community members, friends, and family who helped reach our goal and most importantly provided a hat and sweater for the 67 women and children living at the Monastery.

2017
In February we trekked to the Bigu Monastery through HGO and volunteered to teach English and to help repair damaged infrastructure. In March the nun received their hats and sweaters thanks to YOU!
