We are Next Generation. We are a group of young women who are horrified by the pandemic nature of human trafficking and are constantly curious about innovative situations to combat modern day slavery.
Next Generation found One Heart International and we were inspired. You will be too. One Heart International is also horrified by the reality of human trafficking, especially in Moldova where the poverty is debilitating... where people often have just a bowl of soup or a few bones to suck for dinner, where alcoholism and apathy sweep through communities like disease, where the average monthly salary in some villages is $30, and where human trafficking is almost assumed for anyone without a job.
Their response has been community-engaged milk collection. People have cows that produce milk (not enough cows... we'll get back to that), while dairy companies in Moldova are experiencing mass milk shortages to fill their markets’ needs for dairy products. Families with a cow - and villages with many cows - are unable to sell their milk commercially simply because dairy companies will only collect milk from a single deposit point.
So, in 2013, One Heart International built a milk collection facility in Vatici Village with 100% local labor and recycled materials. With strong local buy-in, the project generated over 1,000 jobs which increased the average cow-owning villager's monthy income to more than $150, significantly increasing quality of life and decreasing vulnerability to youth and young adults being trafficked.
We're doing it again. And we're starting with just one cow. And you can help! Once we've got one, we'll get another...
Just one cow feeds a family and raises the income of, on average, four people.
Just one cow gives a family much needed nutrients via their own milk, and the financial ability to finally buy a modest amount of meat, medicine, and mobility.
Just one cow: it's a small but significant start. Once we've funded a few cows, we will fund the another entire milk collection operation. We can’t wait to share that opportunity with you!
It seems so simple, but it’s profound. Each recipient has been vetted, and fully prepared for ownership. For them to own a cow seems impossible. You can be a part of this beautiful display of Bovine Intervention!
Your generous contribution, large or small, means so much. Every penny goes towards buying the first cow. This cow is just the beginning though. In a few months, we will escalate our efforts to fund another entire milk collecting operation in Moldova.
Join us!
Please, help us fund a cow today. Our goal is to provide our first milk-giver by August. One cow means four people are potentially protected from trafficking.

Human trafficking is a global issue (estimates range from 21 million to 45.8 million people being enslaved today). It is an issue with ripple effects across communities. And in Moldova, where human trafficking is pandemic, the issue is economic. Each job we can create, we can prevent a person from falling into the traps of traffickers.
Thank you for caring. Thank you for acting. Thank you for contributing. Thank you.
