Bossier Intersections Replaced with Roundabouts

Donation protected
I am raising money to replace four intersections in Bossier City with roundabouts.   Once these four intersections are completed, we will move on to other locations.  Yes, like Benton Road.

No, this is not a joke. I believe that if we do this and ask for forgiveness after the fact (a life principle for me), everything will be just dandy. There will be some frustration during the process, but we as a community can stand together and persevere!

A roundabout is a type of circular intersection or junction in which road traffic is permitted to flow in one direction around a central island, and priority is given to traffic already on the junction.

While Christmas, oh sorry, the Holidays, have exacerbated the issue, our city is becoming difficult to navigate since poor initial planning and infrastructure was designed without a plan for future expansion.  Stress levels seem to be higher and are ruining my Christmas, sorry again, Holiday spirit, while I am currently try to make sure I watch every new Hallmark Christmas movie with a smile on my face.  More accidents are occurring and our safety is at risk.  People are screaming and swearing at each other, and we don't want that in this town, for it might ruin our image (see exhibit A below).  It's taking longer to get to and from Chik-fil-A.  That alone is a travesty for many.  In summary, this project is all about you.

There are four critical intersections to be replaced with roundabouts.  The first is for selfish reasons alone, but the others will help everyone who resides in Bossier and is tired of Airline Drive.

Modica Lott & Swan Lake Road
Been Blvd. & Airline Dr.
Viking Dr. & Airline Dr.
Douglas Dr. & Airline Dr.

Disclaimer: I have no experience whatsoever in the construction or infrastructure industry, but since I know a lot of people and we all want smooth traffic flow, a stellar team of people will be assembled.

Below ere are the expected costs and general plan for each intersection:

1 - Rent a bulldozer
2 - Pre-order asphalt (from another state since it appears we don't know how to make roads correctly here)
3 - Have four people redirect traffic for the day
4 - I jump in the bulldozer, figure out how to work it, and start tearing up the existing intersection, cables, street lights, and anything else that looks like it will interfere with the roundabout
4(a) - Hire security to make sure any "naysayers" in the community don't get mad at me
4(b) - Hire social media expert to manage updates to the community
4(c) - Contact the news (actually the news will surely be contacted once I'm in said bulldozer) and try to get as much done before being arrested
4(d) - Go to jail (see Q&A below),
4(e) - Get bailed out of jail
5 - Have asphalt delivered
6 - Rent more heavy equipment to spread out the asphalt
6(a) - Go to court due to arrest (see section 4)
7 - Figure out how to use new said heavy equipment
7(a) - Be arrested again
7(b) - Go to jail (see Q&A below)
7(c) - Get bailed out of jail
8 - Make everything flat and round
9 - Plant dirt and pretty flowers in the middle (from a local source, we won't outsource it to another state like when we built East Bank and ended up with hay)
9(a) - Go to court due to second arrest (see section 7(a))
10 - Put concrete curbs in place
11 - Order four (4) "Yield" signs on Amazon.com
12 - Use a sledgehammer to put the four (4) signs in the ground
13 - Clear schedule for multiple trials and court appearances
14 - Call family to apologize for the grief I've put them through
15 - Have a celebration with the city because traffic flows so much smoother and people are happy

The project time to completion for each intersection, since it will be managed by me and a group of leaders in the area, will take about seven (7) days.

The total cost for each intersection is budgeted for $100,000.00.

Note:
A three (3)-part tutorial on how to navigate a roundabout will be placed on social media prior to the completion of the first intersection to instruct the 97% of Bossier City drivers on how to navigate a roundabout.  Driving lessons will also be conducted at the roundabouts near the Boardwalk.

Q&A:

Q:Why are we trying to raise money for this project?
A:Because the local authorities are taking too long or don't even think about amazing concepts such as this one.

Q:Why don't we start a petition?
A:Because it will get thrown away.

Q:Why aren't we waiting for the City or Parish to handle this?
A:Sorry, I just started laughing really hard.

Q:Although this is a short turn-around, 7 days is a long time - how do we endure the traffic issues for 7 days?
A:If you can't handle 7 days, try waiting 7 years.

Q:The gofundme page is for $1,400,000.00 but four intersections only cost $400,000.00.  Where is the other $1,000,000.00 going?
A: The additional $1,000,000.00 will be set aside for bail money when the local authorities try to stop me while bulldozing down the current intersections.  I anticipate this happening several times.  Legal fees due to multiple anticipated arrests and bail hearings will be included in this figure. Additionally, I am confident that I will accidentally burst a water, power or gas line, so this will cover the costs to fix those issues.  Petty cash (amount TBD) will also be set aside to pay-off certain political figures in the town, either as a bribe or to keep their mouth shut, while we complete the project (don't worry, this is standard practice but we don't like to talk about it).

Exhibit A - Our region doesn't have an image yet, as I've been told my numerous consultants that have evaluated our city, but roundabouts will certainly help as we spend the next one (1) to 100 years trying to figure out who we are.
