Boot Camp Graduation in TWO WEEKS!

$90 of $765 goal

My daughter, Maggie, graduates from Boot Camp on September 21! We are driving for Fort Jackson, SC, on September 17th, and will be gone for a week.

I've been promising her we are definitely going, and I can't break that promise! I want so much to see my little girl become a soldier! And it will mean so much to her to have support!

My husband, Maggie's two sisters, our cat and dog are all travelling with me, and we're camping in a tent for the stay. I'm going to prep food to take with us to warm up, and national parks are free for camping. We're trying to go as cheap as possible!

I tried to save the money to make the trip, but it's difficult. I had to insure, register, and plate my vehicle. Our cat had a spider bite and had to go to the vet for a partial tail amputation. We are living in a campground, at the moment, and had to buy a new tent and bed last month.  I managed to save about $250 for gas, but that's all I've got!

Any help would be fantastic. We're going to go, but the more help, the better and safer our trip will be.

Thanks to my sister, Trish, and friends Nikita and Nicole for your donations!
Things your donations can buy us:
$50 for a tank of gas, which is about 400 miles.
$50 is about the cost of one night in a hotel, which would be really nice with Irma going through the area. Tent camping is going to get rather wet.
$20 is the cost of one night in a campground, or a meal.
Anything helps! We leave Sunday!

I messaged Ft. Jackson regarding graduation plans and the coming hurricanes, and received this reply:

So far, there has been no impact to work or training on the installation. If there is a call to evacuate, this page and our Twitter account (@fortjacksonpao) will be your most up-to-date resources for information from our leadership regarding Fort Jackson.

So, at the moment, Maggie's graduation date is still scheduled for September 21st. If anything changes, I will update everyone! Prayers for everyone affected by the hurricanes!

Hurricane Irma is looking very bad for everyone in its path, and Ft. Jackson is on track for the eye to hit. I'm sure Maggie and her fellow soldiers will be okay, they're in concrete buildings in a hurricane-prone area, so the Army will have an emergency plan, right?
What will happen with her graduation, though, if José also follows the same path, as they're predicting?
Worried, but I know it's in God's hands.
