Support Boon's Family

Donation protected

My brother Antaratma Boon and his wife Matarisvan woke up this Sunday morning, November 1st at 4:20 AM to the smell of burning. They rushed to their sons Vidwaan and 1yr old Tejas and ran outside. Less than an hour later, they watched their house together with all of their possesions completely. irreversebly. gone.

If you know this family, like I do, you would understand that everything must have a positive spin, there is still a reason to smile no matter the situation. And so you see them in these photos covered in ash, smiling, grateful for life, for family, for the breath they can still take in.

It has dawned on me, as the ash settles that if they are to make it through, they cannot do it without the financial support of friends, family and anyone who would wish for the same help should it happen to them.

My first thought when i heard the horrible news was "thanks God they are all alive and healthy(including the dog)", and "they'll be fine, they're not materialistic, the insurance will cover the damage and they are IT professionals that work from home so funds will keep coming through".

It turns that there are some serious flaws in this point of view.

THERE IS A MAJOR PROBLEM WITH THE INSURANCE AND ITS GOING TO TAKE A FIGHT AND TIME to allow them to receive funds, if any.

and

ONE CANNOT KEEP THE INCOME FLOWING IN WITH A HOME BASED I.T. BUSINESS WHEN THE COMPUTERS ARE BURNED.

These guys need funds and they need them fast! They need to buy the necessary equipment to run their home based IT consultancy. While some clothing donations have been provided, life and its financial demands will carry on.

While they are dealing with this. I am asking the family, friends and community for DONATIONS.

Yes we feel that personally we need that $100 or even that $5 to make it through the week, yet the pinch we might feel for this small sacrifice is not comparable to the pinch we would feel if our employer suddenly said to us that we could not come back to work because the facilities were no longer there.

Or the pinch we would feel if we had to repurchase every item we feel is essential for the daily running of our lives.

So please give big, give lovingly.
