Achiri NELSON Geh, a political asylum seeker from Cameroon, has been held in detention for nearly two years - and an immigration judge has set his bond at a prohibitive $50,000.
In Cameroon, Nelson was persecuted for his political activism - detained, beaten, arrested, imprisoned, starved, and tortured by the authorities. His brother was killed while participating in a peaceful demonstration, and the police detained and threatened his mother. He he had to flee. Nelson fled to the US enduring a treacherous journey by plane, bus, boat and foot, arriving here in April 2017.
Thanks to the tireless work of immigrant rights advocates like Black Alliance for Just Immigration (BAJI) and RAICES, and the generous support of their donors, we've managed to raise $25,000. But we still need to raise another $25,000! Together we can make it happen and allow Nelson to live in freedom and dignity.

Nelson and I became friends when he was being held at an immigrant prison outside of San Diego. I will be transferring all money raised to RAICES, which is serving as the obligor on the bond. Funds raised beyond $25,000 will be used to assist another person’s release from detention. Released bonds will be returned to the national revolving bond fund.
