On August 3rd, eight year old Bodhi was severely injured in an automobile accident.  Tragically his father, Gannon Rogers and the family dog, Kodi, were killed instantly.

Bodhi's bowel was perforated, his liver punctured, his left elbow broken, his right arm shattered & almost torn off, and he was bleeding internally when a good Samaritan found the wrecked car and contacted the police.  First responders did not expect Bodhi to survive the transport to the hospital.

After being medivaced out, and many hours of surgery, the surgeons were able to save Bodhi life. They did the best they could to save his right arm and it appears they were successful. His left arm was broken in three places and is in a cast; the right arm is in a sling.   Bodhi will have years of recovery.

As of August 13th, he no longer in critical condition.   He remains in stable condition at the hospital awaiting another surgery on his right arm. There will be more in the future.

Bodhi's mom loves him dearly & will do her best to care for him and his eleven year old sister, but she does not have the resources for this kind of care and rehabilitation. Bodhi will need round-the-clock care & his doctor will be 5 hours away,  in Oakland. She is now the solo parent of two children who have just lost their father. Bodhi needs your help.

These Go-Fund me funds are to be used only for Bodhi's medical and rehabilitative expenses that are NOT covered by insurance.

Bodhi was taken into surgery about noon today. Doc said they would reopen him at same abdominal scar and he expected the surgery to take about 3+ hrs.

Bodhi came through the surgery well. The surgeon removed the scar tissue causing the blockage and says Bodhi will be in the hospital at least two weeks.

They have had to cancel their plans to spend Christmas with Gannon's family. We are crossing our fingers, hoping he will be discharged by Christmas. When will this nightmare end?

Bodhi saw the ortho Tuesday morning. She said that although he is not at full extension yet, he continues to improve. He is cleared for most activities except things like monkey bars and rock climbing. He'll need to go back during the summer for another surgery to remove the nails from the left elbow but otherwise is healing beautifully.

Unfortunately he began vomiting Monday evening. Thinking/hoping it was a bug Celeste decided to ride it out. On their way north this morning Bodhi started complaining of abdominal pain so she turned around and I met them at the emergency room here in Santa Rosa at about 10:30 this morning. After numerous tests they have confirmed that he has a bowel obstruction. He is being transferred by ambulance to UCSF Children's Hospital in Oakland (where he was before). The doctors at UCSF will determine his treatment plan but it will almost certainly involve surgery, probably tomorrow.

I'll post updates as we know more.

Bodhi continues to improve. Still restricted from lifting, he is working on increasing his arm extension to 100%. Once this is accomplished Bodhi will begin therapy to strengthen his arms.

Bodhi has recently returned to school. He is closely monitored to ensure he doesn't overtax himself physically. He is enjoying being reunited with his classmates.

The family is facing their first holiday without Bodhi's dad, which will be difficult. We are all very thankful that Bodhi is here to celebrate with us and are grateful to the many medical professionals and first responders who have contributed to Bodhi's recovery. We wish you and yours a joyous Thanksgiving.
