Michael (Bo) Road to Recovery
My name is Melanie and this campaign is for my dear friend, best friend Michael (Bo) whom i love and cherish.
On November 28, while in New Orleans, Michael (Bo) was tragically shot in the chest while having an argument with a friend. He was rushed to University Medical Center, where he remains and is receiving critical medical care. He suffered an injury to the spinal cord. He's paralyzed from the waist down.
He has no insurance. No source of income, no way to pay the mounting medical bills and other related expenses ( medicines, wheelchair, treatments, rehabilitation etc etc. ) This unfortunate incident happened right after we lost our home and was destroyed by a fire. We've lost pretty much everything and had to start from scratch.
Its been a really tough recent months. Michael (Bo) has definitely seen better days. This has been way too much for anyone to handle. He needs your love, prayers, support and understanding. He needs a chance to life. To prove and show the real beauty in him. The great qualities he have underneath all the layers which most of you didnt get a chance to see and experience. I did... I fell in love with it...
Lets give him hope....A chance of a new life...It may be with a wheelchair but it'll be a new life...A new beginning...
Your support and donation ( no donation is too small) would go directly to his account and will be used to pay for hospital/medical bills, treatments, rehab, therapies , home care and all other expenses to help him adjust to his new condition.
In behalf of his family, we thank you for your generosity, prayers, love and support.
A lot has taken place since the last update. He is stabilized but we feel that the hospital released him prematurely. Discharge plan was not what we expected. They released him even without a place to go that would work with his current condition. Social workers/case managers at the hospital didn't do their job in making sure he gets into a rehab. This is what happens when you don't have insurance. Luckily, we were able to get him coverage under the Obamacare with a plan that requires $600 premium monthly. And Medicaid was approved at the same time. Since the released from the hospital, he had to go to the emergency room 3x for complications.
We made it work somehow. Thank you for your donations. With the money collected from this campaign, we were able to get him a room at the house where his mom lives. It didn't have a shower or a bathroom that he can use but we made it work. Rest of the money collected were used towards prescriptions, office visits, medical supplies, repair of the power wheelchair he's in now, transportation to and from hospital, food and other necessities. It was also used to get him transported to Florida where he could get proper medical treatment, seen by specialists and get into a rehab facility.
Its still a long way to go. Everyday faces a different challenge. We are very grateful and appreciative of this campaign, the people who contributed, who sent in loads of positive vibes and prayers, we can't thank you enough. Please continue to share this campaign. The strength in numbers really works.
Understandingly, he has bad days and good days. Bad days are when he's in severe pain and you could just tell that he is in a lot of pain because Michael's threshold for pain is very high. He's one tough cookie and for him to say that he is and hear his moans- its unbearable to watch. The pain meds they're giving him are not sufficient and he doesnt really like how the oxy's and the roxy's are making him feel.
Everyday he's getting stronger though. Just today doing his therapy- he was able to transfer from bed to wheelchair by himself and was able to roll himself out to the elevator to the hallways of the hospital. Yoohoo! So proud of him.
There's still a long road to recovery. He still needs our help and support. And with continued healing prayers and positive vibes - along with your donations- no donation is too small. Every cent counts. Its time we give back to someone who was always ever so generous and caring. Remember your donation will go directly to him to pay for medical bills and expenses, a wheelchair, treatment and recovery, medications, and a place to live after hospitalization. All these are crucial to his speedy recovery and for his adjustment to live life under his new condition.
In behalf of Michael and his family, we would like to say thank you...Thank you for your continued love and support. Thank you for the positive thoughts and prayers. Thank you for your generosity. Also to the doctors, nurses and medical practitioners at University Medical Center- thank you for saving the life of our Michael and for your continued care and everything you do. We couldnt thank you enough.
I will post more updates in the next few days. Meanwhile- everyone be safe and God bless.....
His beloved sister and his mom are by his side.
Will update more after the surgery.
Please continue to keep him in our hearts and prayers.
Michael (I have always known of him as Bo Dean) is probably one of the most physically gorgeous and handsome men I have ever seen online. Obviously I never got to know anything about him as a real life person, but as soon as I heard about this I was very deeply saddened because I always was a great fan of his Bo Dean persona. He has nothing to prove to the world. I believe you when you say that he is a wonderful and kind person. I pray that he makes a full recovery and will most certainly donate.
A hero is an ordinary individual who finds the strength to persevere and endure in spite of overwhelming obstacles. The mind and spirit transcend the body. Never give up! Never loose hope! And I still expect you to come to Los Angeles, that has not changed my friend!
Will he return to the industry and he will be repaired by many females ?
Just found out Bo's video recently and he is really a perfect guy. Sorry for hearing this bad news.Anyway, I believe he can win this tough"war" and his smile can be shining everyday. God bless you, my dear STAR!
For those hating on the friend... Bo Dean has a long meth addiction and he broke in to rob them...was asked to leave repeatedly and got violent. The friend was defending himself. Tough luck.
Once, only? No. All of us need to be present for Bo. Now. I am going to try. (I don't think it ever occurred to him not to give everything he had—while he could). May his strength return. And his great spirit!!! Amen.
Mike is good guy. I haven't seen him in years but know he still bendite at heart and my thoughts and prayers going out to him .
