Romeo Engine Plant is sponsoring a fundraising drive to purchase a vehicle for Bobby Body, who lives in St. John, MI . Romeo Engine is working along with the "Wounded Warriors Family Support" organization to help Mr. Body in his need to get a new vehicle for his family.
Romeo Engine has been working with the "Wounded Warriors Family Support" organization for the last 4 yrs and to date has raised over $120,000.00 for the organization, last year we purchased 2 vehicles for 2 well deserving veterans. This years candidate is Bobby Body and here is his story:

Bobby’s left leg was amputated after a combat injury in Iraq in 2006. Bobby served in the Marine Corps and later enlisted in the Army. He has three children, daughter-14, son-10, and a son-3. His wife is currently in Nursing school.
In 2004, ex-Marine Bobby L. Body was inspired by the events on September 11th, 2001 to move back to his home state of Michigan after living in Southern California for a few years. He wanted to be near family before re-enlisting for active duty. “I got a medical discharge from the Marines because I’d hurt my right leg,” he recalled. “Back then, if you had a knee, hip, back, shoulder, elbow, or neck injury, you were pretty much done.” He’d been enlisted less than a year. At the Marine recruitment station, he learned that his earlier medical discharge disqualified him from re-entering the Corps. Disappointed, Body left the recruiter’s office only to be greeted by the Army recruiter in the office directly across the hallway. “I will take you,” he told Bobby. “I was still getting a 300 PT score, so the leg was obviously not an issue,” Body laughed. That was 2004. He was placed in an infantry unit, then deployed to Ar Ramadi in Iraq right out of Airborne school in 2005. In 2006, the Humvee in which he was riding was struck by a roadside IED, injuring his left arm and left leg. The leg was particularly serious. “It’s been at least one surgery every year since then,” Body says. “Every nine months.” Doctors were working to save Body’s left leg, but, in September of last year, it became clear that there was nothing more they could do. The long-term prognosis was clear; Body would eventually lose the leg no matter what measures they took in coming years. “It was either deal with the pain over time and eventually be wheelchair-bound, or amputate while I could still work with it,” Body stated. Fitted with an over-the-hip prosthesis, Body settled into life in St. Johns, Michigan with his wife, Terri, and four kids. He’d earned a Criminal Justice Degree from Ferris State University before his Marine stint that he’d hoped to parlay into a Masters in Criminology and a career in law enforcement with the help of his Marine Corps GI Bill benefit. The medical discharge, however, necessitated a change in plans. Before re-enrolling in the Army and his deployment, Body managed a security company. Now he is working toward a Masters in social work. And, between studying, rehab, and getting the kids to and from school and extra curricular events, Body fit in regular workouts at Iron House Fitness, the gym less than a block away from his home. He has three children, daughter-14, son-10, and a son-3. His wife is currently in Nursing school.
