Hi everyone!

Thank you so much for reading.

(En francais ici)

What you're about to read may not be the "greatest cause" out there, but I'm just going to speak from the heart...

My name is Dahlia, and I am a mother, a teacher, and a school nurse...trying to make ends meet and yet still, with all my might, trying to stay true to my passion of making music.

After five years, credit card debts, and the help of many friends and family, I managed to put out my first album in 2015. Even though everyone involved did an amazing job, I had to cut so many corners. This left me wishing I could one day do this the right way, more professionally.

I am trying now after the almost 7 years of putting my heart and soul into this project, to make a more professional album in a proper studio, and most excitingly, with the ENTIRE BLUE DAHLIA FAMILY.

But this is an enormous expense. Just to get an idea (and this is already after getting generous flexibility from everyone involved):

Studio and recording costs: $1,500
Musicians: $1,150
Mixing and Mastering costs: $3,900
Album Artwork: $300
Distribution and Printing: $2,000

Total: $8,850 ... :/

(Needless to say, I need way more than I'm asking, but trying to stay realistic.)

I know every artist these days is in the same boat. I'm not sure what to say here, except that I feel so excited about the new music going on this album, with all the new colors and instruments, and I think a lot of you out there are too! I just hope we can make this happen.

About the music: The music mixes my influences from growing up in NYC and in France - blending French chanson with different reggae, klezmer, Latin and Roma grooves, melodies and colors. By sharing it with the world via both recordings and performances, I believe this kind of modern world music has the potential to spark intercultural dialogue and mutual respect through art.

Here are some  VIDEOS and recordings of songs that will go on the next album:

Quand Tu Mets La Main Sur Ma Taille:
About that feeling when someone special puts their hand on your waist, and you feel both excited and apeased, warmth and chills, all at the same time. :)

La Tradition Americaine:
About our widespread, sociatal norm, especially in NYC, to work work work as much as you possibly can, and how potitive that work ethic is viewed amongst us, even though we do it so much we often don't have time to see our families, rest, or live our passions. We do it for some idea of a utopian retirement, but sometimes we are just too tired or ill by that time from working so hard to enjoy it.

Your Love:
About those who only feel innocent, pure love. A beautiful love, the most important love, but not when it's the only type of love you are capable of.

The amazing skills and hard work of these musicians and technicians MUST BE HEARD! And with this better quality of the recording, this album has so much potential. I will share it with the world, literally, and I will do it with my whole heart.
