Donation protected
The Rochester Edge 14U Girls hockey team is the New York State champion team of 2017!  Now we represent our great state in the USA Hockey National Championship tournament in Troy, MI, April 5 - April 10, 2017.

We welcome you to be a part of making possible, these girls' dream of becoming national champions.

While we are proud to have earned our bid, we are set back by the additional expenses required these extra weeks now added to our season.  We are seeking donations to offset the  costs of additional practices, travel, lodging and fees.

[My name is Paul Monette, a father of one of the players, and I've been nominated to set up this "gofundme" campaign on behalf of the team. Withdrawals
will be deposited directly into our team account.]

Here's a little more info about our team's run in the recent NYS championship tournament...

The Edge girls U14 team won the tier II state title this past weekend in Amherst New York. The girls played five games over the weekend, outscoring the competition 29 to 3. The team got consistent offense from everyone on the roster. Forwards Bella Baker, Bella Callahan, Rachel Corbett, Katie Diem, Maya Green, Erin McCarthy, Lian Sydorowicz, Abigail Wiesenberg, Ariel Williamson, Emily Yackel, and Adelle Young all recorded points during the weekend. The tournament started with a win over Plattsburgh which is ranked third in the state rankings by a score of 4-0. Goals came from Katie Diem, Rachel Corbett, and Emma Corbett (2). Next were two wins were over teams from Depew and Skaneateles which earned the Edge the first seed in their bracket. The offense exploded as they out- scored the two teams 17-2.

Next up were the semi- finals against our longtime rivals from Potsdam, the Ice Storm. The Edge girls were looking for revenge for last year as they had lost in the finals in overtime 2-1. The Edge came out strong in the first period and built a 3-0 lead going into the second period. Goals were scored by Erin McCarthy (2), Rachel Corbett, and Ariel Williamson. They beat the Potsdam Ice Storm in the semi- finals 4-0. The Ice Storm are currently ranked 5th in the state. All this hard work led to the finals against the number two ranked Hamburg Lady Hawks. After two periods the Edge was leading 1-0 on a goal from Erin McCarthy. Throughout the third period, the Edge added three more goals from Ariel Williamson, Cassidy Rockwood, and Emma Corbett. The final was a hard fought 4-1 victory and another state title for the Edge girls program.

The Edge got strong defensive play as well from Katie Barton, Emma Corbett, Autumn Mish, Grace Monette, Cassidy Rockwood, and Rebecca Ryan. The girls held the competition to less than 12 shots per game. Our goaltending was solid throughout the weekend. Lucy Robertelli stopped all 31 shots she faced throughout the weekend. Rachel Brase was outstanding as well with an 89% save percentage. The girls were well prepared by their coaches Maggie Benson, Mike Benson, Ned Corbett, Sheridan Mish, and Paul Monette. The team will now move on to the national tournament that will be played in the first week in April in Troy, Michigan.
