Support the Blue Cat Cafe!

$15,395 of $15,300 goal

 WACO, TX
The Blue Cat Cafe has been instrumental in finding homes for hundreds of cats and kittens in Austin and promoting healthy lifestyles for both kitties and people. However, protestors have been attacking the owner, threatening her life, and destroying her property, AND threatening the safety of the animals housed within the cafe.

This Gofundme is to help rebuild what has been defaced, replace what has been destroyed, and increase the security at the Blue Cat Cafe.

UPDATE: The propietor would like to express a huge thank you to her supporters. Every dollar that does not go to repairs will be used to stockpile on supplies such as litter and food and toys for the cats. She does not wish for a personal profit from this gofundme, and wants her supporters to know that every dollar given goes straight to the benefit of the cafe and the kitties inside. All proceeds above what is raised will be used to repair damage, care for the cats, and just make sure the cafe hangs around forever.

After a little more than a week, we have been blown away by all your kind words and support. Thanks to all of you, these cats and kittens will continue to have a haven of safety and a chance to find a home.

We ask that you continue to share the story of Blue Cat Cafe and be a voice of encouragement. We strongly suggest that you stay away from the protester's facebook page and use this campaign as a platform to "erase hate." Our voices will always be stronger together, so we should use them to be louder and more powerful than those opposing the cafe. Put you efforts into spreading the word about how wonderful you think this place is, not on putting anyone down.

Please continue to keep the friends and family of Jacques in your thoughts. This is sure to be a challenging time for them as the mourn the loss of a truly incredible man.

Just a quick update to all of our awesome supporters and the GoFundMe community:

Firstly, the proprietor and staff of Blue Cat Cafe cannot thank you enough for all this amazing support. It comes during a very difficult time compounded by the loss of their co-founder last week. They went from talking about 2 new outdoor cameras to 16, a new DVR system to hold secure information, new outdoor sensors and lighting, and, of course stockpiling food, litter, and toys for all the adoptable cats years to come. You are making it easy to erase the hate, and make it so Blue Cat doesn't even have to think about sacrificing on safety and security due to financial hardships they struggle with everyday.

On another note, while we appreciate all the people across the globe who are coming to the cafe's defense during this tough time, we have noticed some comments focusing on political agendas and the current election. We just want to stress this gofundme is about 'erasing the hate' of vandals, and ramping up security. It is just that. Blue Cat Cafe just wants to get back to work in a safe and beautiful place that is secure!

Their goal is to keep the business going with their mission in mind - get cats out of cages in a happy, secure place where people can find peace, coffee, food, internet, serenity, adoptions, kitty therapy, and so much more.

As of right now, the proprietor wants to push the business forward in honor of co-founder, Jacques Casimir, who was a beautiful spirit and would have wanted us to endure and inspire others. She is resolved not to let his hard work and efforts be a reflection of the vitriol they've endured.

The Blue Cat Cafe is not going anywhere. Because of you and the memory of Jacques, they are determined to be stronger and better and ramp up security and adoptions. Thank you from all of us, Blue Cat Cafe & staff, and, most of all, the cats!
Beautiful
We will persevere in honor of Jacques.

Update: It is with the deepest of sorrow, we would like to inform the community of the passing of our co-founder, Jacques Casimir.

He passed this week, which only makes our appreciation of your support during this tough time so much greater.

Blue Cat Cafe would not exist without his dedicated support and assistance.

Please get to know who he was with the following videos and images.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Z9RiWJcyeQ

He lived more in his too brief life than most do in 20.
His passions included: giving back to the community via creating business and jobs, loving animals - cats most of all, enjoying friends and family, traveling and seeking adventure.

If you didn't know Jacques, please take some time to view some of our favorite photos of him attached.

We hope he inspires you to live a rich and full life, and to follow your dreams as he always did. Be brave and bold, seek beauty and wisdom, and try to build up.

A memorial of Jacques is to be determined by his family and closest loved ones, and we will put that out there when it is determined how to best remember him. We will continue to update you with our plans and dreams.

We plan to move forward with our dream, just like Jacques would have wanted and because his DNA is in this business. Everything we look at that is good in this place reminds us of him right now. Again, thank you.

I hope you get enough money to MOVE. Let this neighborhood remain a "Hades Hole". You and the cats deserve a decent neighborhood, surrounded by caring friends and respectful law abiding citizens.

Please continue this fundraising effort by increasing the amount you are asking for. The protesters probably have a lot of spare time to picket your business. You will need ongoing $. I think you will see some viral action happening soon, via social media. It's extremely disturbing that a group of disgruntled neighbors would take their grievances out on a cat sanctuary/vegan cafe. I mean, you sort of represent all that is good in the world. And yeah, I did my research.

To Abby Cam. We have most certainly done hundreds of adoptions. Please ask the Humane Society. I don't know where the number 80 comes from. However, even if we had done 80, isn't that great? How many has Starbucks done?

Gentrification is an issue, but it was the disgusting actions and words of the protesters (someone among them did it, they know who it is) that got me to donate to this cause. Their excuses are laughable, because if they genuinely cared about a pinata shop going out of business, they would have rallied together to save it a long time ago. Whoever those cowards are, they just want an excuse to be violent and antagonistic towards a woman business owner and a bunch of helpless animals out of some personal frustration due to inadequacy, and probably because their local xanax or other narcotic dealer couldn't deal out in the location anymore. People like that don't want their communities to do better, because it would just remind them of how much their personal lives suck. Nah... they'd rather have empty lots and decay to match their abysmal existences.

So many people are supporting you and will continue to support you. Reports continue to suggest this masked mob is protesting capitalism and gentrification, but there is doubt. There is nothing altruistic about a masked mob painting profanity on the walls of a small business that cares for shelter pets. There is nothing noble about screaming obscenities at children. There is nothing honorable about tampering with the safety of a vehicle. We will eventually find out the identity of the criminals. Hugs and continued support!

OF COURSE they denied any involvement, because that would mean they committed a crime and could be charged... I tell you, heads would roll if I lived in Austin....the morons are protesting the WRONG person...they SHOULD be protesting outside the land owner's house....NOT the person renting....That information is a matter of public record and can easily be found... They are protesting pushing out ethnic businesses? I'm sure the building owner doesn't care WHO he rents to as long as the rent is paid....if these ethnic businesses want to operate? Tell em to get a loan like every other business and put up their own building... SJWs....the dumbest sect on the planet....

In regard to update #15 - I thought y'all have adopted over 200 cats by now. 80 seems very low. I also think a park is not going to be acceptable to the protesters and that breaking your current lease and relocating is the best way to go.
