On March 22nd what we thought was a UTI in Bentley turned out to be a  prostatic rhabdomyosarcoma. My world crumbled as they talked about surgery,  biopsies, and chemotherapy. My five year old boy has cancer and nothing in the world seems fair or has hurt so bad.  But he allows me the strength within his smiles, laughs, and perfect eyes to continue on for him.

His surgery will be Thursday March 24th and we will do all needed biopsies and insert his port for chemotherapy.  The results of his biopsy will allow the doctors he has to create a personalized treatment plan for him.

During this time I will be unable to work because he will not be able to attend school while receiving chemotherapy.  Upon arriving we were also informed that his insurance went out of business and was no longer providing coverage. So the treatment and procedures performed in March will be out of pocket  costs. We are accepting donations to help with medical expenses and also to hopefully fulfill some dreams of giant Lego sets and unforgettable adventures. Every penny helps and is greatly appreciated and we will keep everyone updated on Bentleys journey. Thank you.

It has been a very long six weeks of Monday through Friday proton therapy, but we are at the end. This Monday is his last treatment and we are beyond excited. Tomorrow we will be celebrating his accomplishment. He has handled things extremely well, we are dealing with some radiation burns but they are not painful for him. This weekend we have been clamping his catheter and it has been successful, my little man has been urinating again. We will likely have to potty train again as he's not used to having that sensation. However, this means that Monday we will likely be able to sit down with urology to schedule the removal of his catheter!!!! We will be doing our scans to check progress July 12th through 19th. As always the love and positive thoughts are beyond appreciated and we are so grateful to have all those that are fighting with us. #blessingsforbentley #fightlikeakid

Bentley has completed five rounds of chemotherapy, he is going to hopefully start his proton therapy on the 16th of May. He is handling things extremely well and we are all so proud of him. After the six weeks of proton therapy we will have our first check up to see how the tumor is responding to the treatments.

This is a very long and hard road and we are so appreciative in all that are taking this journey with us. I am so lucky to be the mother of a warrior and I can not express how much the support has meant to us. Fight like a kid.

We are officially about to begin our fourth week of our treatment plan!

It has been a long four weeks. We got home on March 30th and it feels like we are still adjusting to our new normal. His treatment plan has changed a bit and he will not be starting radiation quite yet. He gave us quite the scare with his bladder but further testing seems to show that it's just clotting and not the cancer spreading.

He has begun to feel the impacts of chemotherapy which is completely heart breaking, anyone that knows Bentley knows how bubbly and absolutely energetic he is and he is not that anymore. At least for now. He has also started to lose his hair which has been pretty devastating for him. He believes people will laugh at him and he won't be handsome. We now have a feeding tube placed so he does not keep losing weight so rapidly. This may help with his energy level as well.

This is a hard journey but nevertheless the journey is ours and we will make it through, and that will be so much easier with the continuous support we are so lucky to receive from our community. We appreciate every thought, every prayer, and of course every penny. As our world seems so bleak and unfair at times it is humbling and amazing to see the kindness that surrounds us. Thank you all so much ❤️
