Beau's Kidney Transplant

Donation protected
Beau found out when he was 17 that only one of his kidneys formed and the other was Polycystic. By age of 17 he started to have more problems and eventually need a transplant. He was on the list for 5 years while doing dialysis at home everynight. Did I mention he was raising his two kids alone? Six years ago he received a new kidney that had been on ice for 26 hours. He spent thirty days in the hospital and after that was pretty healthy until a year ago. Last January he has a kidney biopsy that indicated he was having an accute rejection. The doctors gave him high dose steroids for a while and it stopped. We relocated to Dallas in July for work and repeated another biopsy, this one was worse. He was having a cellular and antibody mediated rejection. He was admitted for Plasma exchange and antibody treatment, this turned into a two week stay. He was even given chemo, Beau had a allergic reaction and we had to stop treatment. We were new to this area and thank goodness for the Mom's at Metroplex Gymnastics. They have been so awesome to us and helping with Autumn and all of Beau's hospital visits. Back in January I decided I would donate a kidney to Beau, it was never a question. Now we are halfway through the transplant workup. He has one kidney functioning at 18%. Beau was given high dose immunosuppresents and are still on the daily  to keep this kidney functioning. Beau's meds range from $1500- $3000  monthly depending on his dosages. The constant labs, doctor appointments and hospitalizations are starting to add up.  I never thought we would be asking for help. We are asking for help to cover his deductable and mine. After it is covered everything will be affordable. His insurance will cover my portion of the testing and surgery but not everything after. All the doctor appointments and medicines. There are also some appointments before hand they will not cover. At our  meeting with the financial coordinator she stated he had to pay monthly for Medicare too.  It is not even an option to protect him incase he ever lost his job. Any little bit you can help we will greatly appreciate.

Sincerely,

Amanda and Beau
