Ride with Ian - for SCI Awareness
To help Natalie and people like her, I am riding my bike across two continents -from the northernmost point of Alaska to the southernmost point of Argentina. #tiptotip
The non-profit best equipped to help is the United Spinal Association. Their mission is to enhance the quality of life of all people living with spinal cord injuries and disorders. They primarily focus on helping not only Americans injured here in the states but also American veterans injured overseas.
My goal is to raise $1.00 per mile. The total distance is nearly 20,000 miles - with all proceeds going directly to United Spinal Association .
Because your donation is going directly to the United Spinal Assocation , it is 100% tax-deductible.
If I can reach this goal, Natalie, the SCI community, and I would be so grateful. Together, we can help change thousands of lives.
If you donate $30, I'll send you a dope postcard from my journey
If you donate $50, I'll send you a T-shirt! (photo below)

The donation goal has been met. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I'll officially close the campaign in a few days.
We've managed to raise over 21K, which is 1,000 more than where the ambitious goal was set. I'm so happy, excited, and thankful.
I don't know where I'm headed from here but I've got ambitious plans for the next adventure. No matter how they shake out, just remember you guys gave me the confidence to take on big challenges and aim high.
As far as rewards go, I've got lots of t-shirts to order and postcards to write. I'm going to send one more survey during the next few days. It will ask what size t-shirt size you would like. Thanks for your patience on this. It turns out coordinating a multi-part order is fairly difficult from the road (it just made more sense to wait until the fundraiser ended).
Again, thank you so much for your generosity. SCI/D rehab is close to my heart and it means a lot that you shared your money with United Spinal Association. It's truly special, and I'll always be grateful. Best fan club/friends/family a guy could ask for.
Love and Gratitude,
The wind is getting real - one second you're cycling on the shoulder and before you can react, a strong gust has pushed you across an entire lane of highway. Luckily there has been close to zero traffic (but sometimes it's still safer to walk!)
Any type of relief is heavenly, especially for camping. Two nights ago I slept in an abandoned house with a leaky roof and dead birds (a 5 star cycling hotel imo). Tomorrow night I've got a good looking bus stop picked out 60 miles down the road.
I'm 300 miles out now. I think I can taste the finish line. Dreaming of a warm bed in Minnesota.
If we raise $900 more, Dan is going to match the rest and bring the total up to 20K. Please help spread the word for #givingtuesday!
HUGE NEWS. My friend and mentor, Dan Buettner, has pledged to match all future donation up to $3,000. So every donation you make from this point forward is effectively worth double.
From me and on behalf of United Spinal, thanks for all your support thus far. If you know anyone who might be interested in helping with the last push, please spread the word. I've got less than 1,000 miles to go until Tierra del Fuego!
If we get to 20K I'll post more naked bike selfies (Is that a threat or promise - who knows?)
Much love and gratitude,
P.S. For everyone who donated at least $50, T-shirts are coming as soon as I get home.
Just wanted to give everyone a quick update on the ride. Mainly because I'm so blown away by how real all the support has been. We're only 7K away from the 20K goal and I'm not even halfway through yet.
Been spending most days clocking miles in the saddle - down here in Central America it's been between 60-80/day due to the heat and climbing. But I've also been taking days off to let my body heal and enjoy the local towns. Currently, I'm on the eastern end of Salvador and will be pushing into Honduras tomorrow.
What I need right now are some details for postcards and t-shirts. So keep an eye out for a survey that will be coming in shortly.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for your generosity.
You guys are the best.
