Wern's Road to Recovery

Justin Wern is a young father not only to a 3 year old boy, Solomon, but also to many in his community. Numerous young people who are facing the same adversities he himself persevered through years earlier come to him for advice, food, bus fare or a couch to sleep on to get off the streets for an evening.  He is the last person you would expect to be attacked.

However, on the night of Thursday, December 7th, 2017, exactly that happened. One of the young men Justin befriended and helped provide for over the past few years came to his home and shot him twice. Our only guess at a motive was because Justin refused to continue helping him due to the fact he wasnt taking the necessary actions to help himself.

The first bullet went into his upper chest/shoulder area, and the second went into his forearm, breaking it in 10 places. The ER doctors were able to stabilize his arm and control his bleeding until the first surgery Friday morning. 2 more surgeries and one skin graft later, "Big Wern" was finally released from the hospital this afternoon with a couple of scars and some nerve damage in his left arm.

Justin recently started a new job and had not secured insurance yet, so hospital and physical thereapy bills are overwhelming on top of day to day expenses.

As a result of these unfortunate acts, we are reaching out to anyone who may be in a  position to help. Justin is one of the most selfless people I have ever known, and he deserves a return on his years of investing in the community that he loves. Please help in any way possible to aid in his recovery.
