Big Frank Harrison's Big Heart Fund

Big Frank @bigfrank323 is a big man with an even bigger heart. On April 22, he suffered a massive heart attack while on a dog walk with his nineteen year old daughter, Bella. Bella called 911 and started CPR on him, which saved his life. This has been a very intense and terrifying situation for his family, who did not know if he would recover. He is now on his 10th day in the ICU and is preparing for open heart surgery. After surgery he will be recovering for 6+ months and will not be able to work or drive. His wife will be caring for him, their two children and trying to manage their family owned business (which is currently on-hold with all new work being halted).

For all of you who have asked to help, that are able to help, your support and generosity will help this incredible man, his two daughters and wife get through the challenges of the next several months. All of the money raised will go directly to any medical bills and household bills to help sustain his family while he cannot work.

You may know Big Frank Harrison in different ways, from different time periods: starting from the early punk days in LA, to manager of Zed Records in Long Beach CA, as stage manager for Goldenvoice, as owner of Nemesis Records, bass player for Carry Nation, as Big Frank the tattoo artist with 20+ years under his belt, or as Frank the Reiki Healer, animal lover and co-owner of Healing Hands Animal Care.

Regardless of how or when you first met him, if you know Frank then you know he is a gentle and kind man with upstanding values, integrity and a HUGE HEART. He believes in a world where love wins.

Dear Friends and Family,

It has been quite a while since I have sent out an update and honestly, I have been waiting for news on either end of the spectrum. It has been a challenging year since Frank's heart attack and surgery, but it was without a doubt, made lighter knowing you are out there supporting his recovery and thinking and praying for us.

The one year anniversary of his heart attack was April 22, 2017. The doctors use that one year marker as an important indication of recovery. Up until about three weeks ago, we were concerned about his rate of recovery. Frank found himself fatigued and low energy. Getting back to work was not an option for him.

However, I am happy to report that he has finally turned a corner (thank god!). After speaking recently with his cardiologist, it seems that his heart is back to functioning within a normal percentage rate and his medications are at the correct levels to maintain his health. He is now experiencing a boost of energy, feels upbeat and is able to do some light work again.

On May 25th, 2017, we were honored to be invited to the Memorial Hospital Annual Survivor's Event. Frank was one of five survivors chosen to be represented at this event. These survivors, by all odds, should not have made it, but they did!

We were reunited with the Ambulance/EMT Team, Firefighters, Emergency Room Nursing Team, and even the Dispatcher who talked Bella through the incredible CPR she gave her father. It was a beautiful, moving event and was so wonderful to hug each and every person who contributed to saving Frank's life on that harrowing day. It was truly so meaningful.

On a more upbeat note and looking forward, Frank has published and released his book about his former record label Nemesis Records and is looking forward to a book signing tour in Southern California.

He is also working on releasing a benefit record, which a friend has offered to produce, featuring 12 bands who generously donated tracks for this album, including several previously unreleased tracks. This will be a limited edition release on colored vinyl, for you record collectors out there!

We are continuing to move forward one day at a time, count our blessings, and cherish the time we have together as a family. We could not have come this far without your love. Thank you to each and every one of you. <3 Cara, Frank, Bella, Regina

Today marks two months to the day of Frank's heart attack...and his birthday! He is continuing to recover at home, doing lots of reading, has started painting again and is happy to receive visitors and even venture out for short visits. He is getting stronger day by day, step by step. Thank you all for your continued support. He was blown away to realize the extent of people who care about him...and we, as a family are so appreciative. ❤️
The happy birthday boy with Bella and No Face.

Thank you for your patience as we adjusted to care at home. Frank was released from the hospital on 5/12/16 and has been resting and healing well at home. He is making progress and feeling a bit stronger each and every day. We are so happy to have him home and feel confident in his recovery and the medical care he is receiving. It was a stressful transition from hospital to home care, but now that we have a routine things are much smoother. Your generous contributions have made it possible for us to focus on his daily recovery instead of stressing about looming financial issues. With the exception of work we had committed to long ago, our business continues be on hold.
We are so grateful for your prayers, love and support.
Thank you all for your support!

My Honey is finally home! Frank made it upstairs and is resting comfortably in his own bed. It is SO exciting to have him home. Tomorrow marks three weeks since his initial heart attack. I will be monitoring and recording his vitals on a daily basis and assisting him. Saturday a home care nurse will come to draw blood and check his incision sites. He will need weekly trips to the lab for bloodwork and we already have several follow-up doctor / cardiology appointments booked. We are entering a new phase of recovery at home and the hard work will continue, but it's so wonderful to have him home beside me again. Hoping he has an easier and more restful time healing in our home, surrounded by our girls, family and kitties. Keep you posted and THANK YOU, thank you! ❤️
Frank came home to flowers and lovely gifts like this vintage sumi painting from our dear friend.

Big Frank Harrison was a huge part of my late teens and early 20s. His band The Legendary Carry Nation's shows were nothing short of, uh, legendary (for lack of a better word) and my many visits to the late, great Zed Record store were made even more memorable whenever Frank was behind the counter. Best wishes for a full recovery, Sir.
