I wrote a picture book for children who are battling cancer. I wrote this book because there is a lack of humorous literature that explains what a child might be going through, an easy way for them to open up about the many hospital stays, medicine, and needles. It covers the question why me?
I am a special education teacher and am working on my second book. I plan to write books for children about serious topics such as, why am I stuck in this wheelchair, divorce, loss of a parent, and other serious topics that children deal with on a daily basis. In the summer I will travel to various hospitals and camps to share my book with others. I will be available for inspirational talks, writers conferences, and workshops.
I have a contract offer on my book from Christian Faith publishing company. They are ready to start the process of publishing my very first children's book. "Boredom Busters when Diagnosed with the Big C Word: CANCER" They will provide a custom cover, Digital and Print Distribution with Apple iTunes, Amazon, and Barnes N Noble, Ingram Content Network, Custom Author Web Page, Publicity and Press Release Distribution (4,000 press releases), Promotional Video Trailer, a Radio Interview, and up to 16 pages of custom illustrations.
I need these funds in three weeks to start the process of publishing my book. It means so much to begin making an impact on the lives of children who are diagnosed with cancer. I know how it feels when you are waiting on test results, my daughter was just diagnosed with an abnormal mole that might need surgery. My cousins little boy Tyler is an NF1 hero at the age of 5. He has been through two rounds of chemo treatments. My dream is that we will find a cure for cancer! I hope my book can be a platform to discuss those hard questions with your children and others who are fighting this battle.
