Straight to the South

The South of Israel is under attack. Hundreds of needy Israeli families who live in the South are unable to continue buying enough food for their loved one.
We've created this campaign in order to:
1) Cover the credit lines of needy families in grocery stores, so that they are not in debt next time they come to buy food in these stores. Such families do not have checkbooks or credit cards; they only use credit lines given to them by grocery owners, who usually block their credit lines after they've bought for 100 USD in one month.
2) Buy food vouchers for needy soldiers who serve in the Search & Rescue Unit of the Homefront Command of the IDF. This unit is called every time a rocket hits a target in Israel. Many soldiers serving in this unit come from under-priviledged families in the South.
How the funds are distributed:
Arik, volunteer reservist in the Search & Rescue Team, works with a social worker in Ashkelon to identify the most needy families and soldiers who will receive the funds. Together, Arik and the social worker go the these grocery stores and personally cover the credit lines of these families. Next time these families return, they will be able to buy groceries without the fear of debt.
Libbie Snyder, Communication Manager at Conduit Israel, controls the funds received and transfers them directly to Arik.
Jennifer Gutman, who holds a Master in Counter-Terrorism from the IDC in Herzliya, is fundraising in the US.
Shira Kaplan, MBA in Banking and Finance, is fundraising in Switzerland.
All four of us have worked together for ten years on Israel advocacy through the David Project in Boston and through Harvard Students for Israel.
