End Human Trafficking in Nepal

My name is Chris and I am an employee at Salesforce. Through the company's 1-1-1 model, I have been extremely fortunate to have been selected for An expedition unlike any other starting on July 8th.
Effect.org has been running schools in India since 2010, when they noticed a decline in the numbers of female students aged 12-13. The organisation was shocked to learn they were being trafficked into the sex trade.
Prized for their intact hymen, and misconceptions about sex with virgins, these young daughters are sold to brothels in India and enslaved in horrid conditions for years. If they are lucky enough to be rescued, they face HIV, drug additiction, ostracism, and struggles to survive at the age of children.

In the world today, 27 million people are in slavery. Each year, thousands of young girls from poor families in India and Nepal are kidnapped and forced into prostitution, adding to the slave population.
What am I doing?
This year Effect.org will take a group of 10 Salesforce and 30 Google volunteers to Nepal on a 7 day expedition. We will learn about human trafficking first-hand, working with survivors, advocates and local nonprofits dedicated to eradicating trafficking, and understand their biggest challenges. Then, joining forces with Nepali engineers, we’ll take part in a 54 hour hackathon, applying our creative and technological skills to build large scale solutions to fix the problem.
How can you help?
My goal is to raise $2,500 (of which I have already personally contributed $700) to help fund Effect.org for my volunteering time in-country. Funds raised will go towards grants to local nonprofits we work with, Effect school openings in India, and my volunteer time. In addition, I have paid for my own flight.
