Hi Eveyone!
I am Cristal (Beth daughter in love, how she affectionately calls me). I am helping my mother in love raise money for her medical procedure or External Counterpulsation.
Here is a little bet more about Beth story:
In 2016 I developed viral myocarditis and had a mild heart attack with very slow recovery from the heart infection.
In the late spring of 2017 my local cardiologist and primary referred me to Mayo for further investigation and treatment. I was on a lot of medications to control chest pain and had medication resistant high blood pressure secondary to diastolic heart failure.
Fall of 2017 my 3rd angiogram showed a condition called Coronary Artery Vasospasm and a sinus node arrhythmia. A diagnosis was welcome but additional medications
have not been preventing the very disruptive chest pain and shortness of breath.
Last year the next steps were discussed as more cardiologists ar Mayo consulted together to help manage this condition that has no cure.
Instead of adding on a 6th and 7th heart medication with no promise they would improve my condition I decided to have the EECP at St. Mary's hospital in Rochester as recommended. I learned I was a candidate and officially accepted into the program last week.
Treatment may provide me with increased exercise tolerance, less short of breath, less medication, less chest pain and improved overall heart function.
Results have been very promising with as much as 5 years post EECP without chest pain and other disruptive symptoms.
I will need financial assistance to pay for lodging and uncovered medical expenses that enhance efficiency of current heart medications and living expenses while staying near St. Mary's hospital in Rochester.
I am hopeful! Beth (Hale) McClain
The $4,000 will help mom cover mainly lodging and uncovered medical expenses.
