Durango Loves Beth Brunso & Family

Thank you for visiting this site which is a reflection of our community's love for Beth Brunso and our support for Sven, Aspen, and Stowe.  This page was created by Christina Rinderle & Chris Bettin,  close personal friends of Sven and Beth Brunso and Sven’s coworkers, as a funding mechanism for her family here and charities Beth held close to her heart.

As you may already know in advance of visiting this page, Beth took her life on Christmas Day this year leaving behind her husband Sven and two children Aspen and Stowe. Beth was a much beloved teacher at Park Elementary School in Durango, Colorado, a devoted mother and wife, and daughter and sister to her family in Arizona. It is remarkable to see in just a couple of days after Beth’s death the outpouring of love and concern for Beth and her surviving family members. A cursory scan of social media reveals so many positive and lovingly emotional posts about Beth, and the inspiring capacities she had as a wife, mother, teacher, and friend. Beth touched so many in the classroom with her positive spirit and the radiant energy that had become such a notable trademark of her personality. Whether she was getting everyone on their feet to dance, which she was always willing and ready to do, or showing the kind of pure and steady compassion she applied to the lives of others in her community through volunteer work with organizations like the Manna Soup Kitchen, Girls on the Run, and Big Brothers & Big Sisters, everyone she touched likely remembers a woman of extraordinary warmth, enthusiasm, energy, positivity and love. Her loss to so many who loved and were touched by her is beyond reckoning.

One perhaps obvious, but unfortunate reality is that not only were the expenses related to the events of her trauma extraordinary, but the financial burdens born by her surviving family members as a result of losing her are substantial and daunting.  In addition, the family would love your help in making donations in Beth’s name to non-profit organizations related to causes near and dear to her, such as autism awareness (dear to Beth’s heart as her son has Autism) as well as organ donor opportunities. In true Beth Brunso spirit, she gave until the very end choosing to be an organ donor. In her passing, her organs have already been shared, saving the lives of 7 people including a baby that received two valves from her heart this morning.

Thank you for making any donation you feel appropriate in order for the family contribute to these organizations and to help Sven, Aspen and Stowe as they contend with a future without the heart and soul of their family, and with the financial burdens left in an already impossible to conceive emotional wake.

UPDATE:  Thank you all for your generous donations, beautiful sentiments, and messages of love and support...

Sven wanted all of you to know that a celebration of Beth's life will be held this summer, with more details to follow as the season approaches. Beth loved Durango summers and always believed that a life well lived was a reason for a good celebration, so it is fitting that we will plan an event to celebrate her wonderful life sometime after the school year ends.
