Help Bessie Allen Prep School
Please send money to support the longsuffering efforts of Mrs. Bessie Allen and her daughter, Mrs. Marvella Burton, who is now the principal of the Bessie Allen Preparatory School. They are trying to raise money to make some needed repairs to the facilities of the school. But I am making as a goal, double what they have requested simply for repairs, because I have witnessed first hand how they have given their lives to this work and often have received little and many times no financial renumeration (but truly they are rich in the blessings from God).
Below you will learn a little about the school and I have included a letter I received from Mrs. Burton requesting donations for repairs to the school. But again, please consider blessing these dear women, especailly Mrs. Allen, with tokens of monetary appreciation while we still have the chance to do so and she may see it and know it :)
Bessie Allen Preparatory School (B.A.P.S.) is a self-supporting rural mission school founded by Bessie Lee Allen, a native of Mississippi, whose primary goal is to educate students to be missionaries. This educational institution gives instruction in the Bible, basic academics and practical arts, such as cooking, gardening, auto mechanics, and medical missionary skills.
The founder, Mrs. Bessie Allen, believes that the training students receive should provide the best tools in aiding them in developing academically, physically, and spiritually. Now, Mrs. Bessie Allen's daughter, Mrs. Marvella Burton is the pricipal and head teacher of the school. The school's curriculum provides instruction to Pre-Kindergarten through high school students. Located on 27 acres of rural property, the setting provides a peaceful atmosphere where the mind can be free from many distractions. Support provided for the school has come from private donors, tuition and those who believe in the mission of the school.
My wife and I worked at the school in 2010-2011. I witnessed the love, care and self-sacrifice Mrs. Allen and Mrs. Burtin displayed to all people, especially the students. There were many parents who sent their children to be educated at BAPS, but for different reasons, did not pay any tuition. Sometimes over the years maybe they were taken advantage of in this regard, but these ladies steadfastly considered it a privilege to educate and mentor the young people who they always believed God sent to their school. They always held on to their convictions of right and duty, trusting that God would remember them and provide...
Lately things have been really hard for these godly women. My wife and I are now missionaries in a foreign country and we received an e-mail from Mrs. Burton expressing some of their needs. I am setting up this GoFundMe account trying to do what little I can to help these people who have truly sacrificed all that they have to be true to their calling of educating young, black children in rural Alabama.
Here is Mrs. Burtons letter I received on e-mail:

Dear Friends & Supporters:
It’s the summer break and time for another mission project. Instead of going out of, and around the country this summer, we will be working in the home mission field. We believe it is very important to take care of home as well as support the mission field across the waters. At present, we are in need of repairs for our school building and are soliciting your support. The plan is to complete at least three projects this summer. They are as follows:
1. Replace countertop and sink in kitchen
2. Replace flooring in one of the classrooms
3. Replace exterior siding and windows on building and so some minor painting
Our goal is to raise $5,000 to complete the work. Any assistance you can give will be greatly appreciated. I am working to complete these projects by the end of June. Thank you for your support of Christian education and our mission to train students for this world and the world to come.
Sincerely yours in Christ,
MarVella Allen-Burton, Principal/Teacher
