Bernie’s Journey!

Bernie Erlandson, of Waterloo, WI., is a husband, father of two and friend to many. In August 2018 Bernie was diagnosed with Stage 4 Colorectal cancer that spread to both his liver and lymph nodes. Since his diagnosis, Bernie has undergone 7 rounds of chemotherapy, with moderate success. However, this is only the first step of his journey. In January 2019 he will undergo liver surgery in hopes of removing two tumors. The down time for this surgery will be a minimum of two months. Immediately following this two month recovery, he will begin further chemotherapy and radiation treatments 5 days a week for around 6 weeks in preparation for further surgeries.
During this time, it will be unlikely that he will be able to run his automotive restoration business. This will impact our entire family as we will each need to be spending time away from our jobs to help with his care.
Thus far, Bernie has kept in good spirits and has stayed positive. We expect this will become harder as he will temporarily be unable to work, and enjoy all the hobbies he loves. As many of you know, Bernie is a very social guy who enjoys anything "hotrod", playing foosball and pool with friends and spending time with family.
This will be a very emotionally and financially taxing time as medical bills grow and time away from work will be necessary. As our family tries to adjust to our new "normal" we ask for assistance from our family, friends and community in this time of hardship. Our family wants to put all of our energy into helping keep his mind positive and his body healthy. Any donations given will help alleviate worry and will be so appreciated.
