Support Berlin Dance Institute

Donation protected

Berlin Dance Institute was founded in 2016 by Wendy Taylor, Suleika Fichtner and Susi Neff. BDI is an international Institute of excellence in the field of contemporary dance training. We currently offer a 3-year contemporary dance education programme comparable to a  European undergraduate programme, in addition we also offer a children´s programme.

What are our goals:

Our aim is to establish a centre for dance with a combination of intensive dance programs and programmes for children and adults. We plan to build an international performing arts community where everyone is welcome. Our mission is to bring dance and performing arts to both the serious artist and those that wish to dance just for fun, one or two times per week.

Why should you support our project:

Berlin Dance Institute is a labor of love for us. We started the school because we really believe that what we do is of benefit to so many people.
The dance community has given us so much and we want to give something back in return.

How will we use your donation:

In order to move forward, to grow and to contribute to the dance community, Berlin Dance Institute is searching actively for a new home.
We need donations for dance floors, barres, mirrors and music equipment.
Your donation will help support us to co-finance our project.

Who stands behind the project:

Founded in 2016, Berlin Dance Institute is a new, dynamic, spirited and bold vocational college that inspires success  in its faculty and its students.
We would like to share with you our accomplishments during our  first year on a very small budget.

BDI received its first recognition from the Senate one month after it opened (Ergänzsungsschule §102). BDI students are entitled to BäföG.
International students also qualify for student aid.

Our international faculty is outstanding.

Our students performed in December 2016 and in July 2017 in Dorky Park and ATZE, Berlin.

BDI's dance educator Yaara Dolev took the students to Israel for a four day workshop with Batsheeva. Then to Andorra to perform.

Our guest lecturers were, Joseph Tmimm (Israel) Sonia Rodriguez (Canary Islands) and Sidra Bell (New York).

Emily Jefferies (New York) was our resident choreography for 2017.

Going into our second year we have an increase in student numbers.

Our future Plans

To offer two full scholarships or four half scholarships to talented dance artists.

To  offer a dance summer camp for kids and teens and workshops for semi-professionals.

To provide a rehearsal space for professional dancers/Choreographers.

To host an International  young choreographers competition.

To  collaborate with graduated students and emerging choreographers for performances.

Berlin Dance Institute creates an atmosphere that encourages, invites and builds excellence, an atmosphere that is highly valued by all who work with us. The level of trust between the faculty and the students is our highest priority. We are committed to open dialogue and transparency, where our faculty and our students can be proud and happy to be a part of our programme.
