Belmont Families Lose All in Fire
3/4/2017 -- Many thanks to one and all for making this campaign such a success! Charles and I are now closing this fundraiser and are excited to release the money to the families! Thank you, thank you, thank you one and all! #BelmontStrong #BRSSDstrong

Hello Belmont and Redwood Shores Families!
Belmont Mayor Charles Stone and I would like to ask you to join us in helping two families who are in need of our amazing Belmont and BRSSD's support.
Tuesday morning, a fire ravaged two apartments in Belmont in a building close to Carlmont Village -- the Tara family's home, whose three children (10, 8 and 5 years old) attend Fox School, and a 65 year old grandmother's home who had lived in the apartment for 22 years along with her son and daughter-in-law who is having a baby.
Everything is gone or severely smoked damaged. Photo albums gone. Children's favorite blankies gone. Bedding gone. Pots and pans gone. Electronics gone. Toys gone.
Charles and I can't even begin to imagine what it would be like if things our families spent a lifetime obtaining had to be replaced, and thus the reason we are asking our Belmont-Redwood Shores communities to step in and help.
Both families are needing financial support so that they can replace many of the items they once cherished but are now gone. The goal right now is set at 10K. If we reach it, FANTASTIC! We'll also keep raising the goal if it appears that lots more families wish to donate. We will be splitting the donations with 70% going to the Tara family and 30% to the grandmother.
We've also created a FB Group (search FB for "Belmont Families Here to Help") for those wanting to help to post pics of highly quality items that they wish to donate to the families. If the items meet the needs of the families, they will reach out to you via FB. Think furniture, cooking utensils, dishes, silverware, clothing for kids, sports equipment, microwave, toaster oven, etc.
The Tara family is also in immediate need of a new home where they can rebuild their lives. They are currently living in a motel but need to move out by March 1. If you know of any rentals that are coming available shortly, please do let us know.
Belmont and Redwood-Shores -- will you join us in helping to alleviate some of the trauma these families are facing? Donate as well pass along this gofundme on your social media sites? Truly, there's nothing more rewarding than helping others in need -- especially when those in need are from our own community.
Let's do this Belmont-Redwood Shores! #BelmontStrong #BRSSDstrong
Warmly,
Charles Stone -- Mayor of Belmont
