Bedford County Players Fundraiser

$6,060 of $2.0M goal

Raised by 82 people in 1 month
31374410_153184864971641_r.jpegOn July 16th, 2018 the Bedford County Players lost their home. We lost everything. Nothing was able to be salvaged, with the exception of a few props and costumes, which is still under investigation due to smoke damage.

The Gardner Memorial Theater was built in the late 1970's using logs gathered from old structures found throughout Bedford County. During the first performances in the theater, lighting and sound equipment was limited and the audiences sat on bales of hay.

As the years went by many improvements were made, through the hard work of a group of local volunteers and inspired direction from a talented couple. Priscilla and Harry Gardner for the Bedford County Players in 1983.

The Gardners, with years of theater experience to draw from, came to Bedford with a dream and definition of Community theater. "An involvement of people of all ages and walks of life, who energize their talents in various phases of the theatre under inspired direction. the purpose of such a group-to enrich lives with fellowship, cultural development and artistic accomplishments."

The Bedford County Players, over thirty years later, continue to see this as the definition of Community theater at Old Bedford Village's Gardner Memorial Theater. Many of our members from the 1980's are still involved with the group, along with their children and grandchildren. New members, over the years, have brought their talents to the Players and made our group larger, stronger and more diverse. Actors and Technical crew members, from 5 to 85, have added their skills and varied abilities to our productions, allowing us to broaden our repertoire of shows and to continue our mission...to entertain our loyal patrons and enrich our own lives.

Here is where we need your help...our loving and supportive community.

The Bedford County Players have a plan of action to continue to provide quality theatrical productions to our community and to continue to enrich lives and educate.

For this to happen, we need to raise 2 MILLION dollars. That sounds like a bit, doesn't it?

It can be done! If you are able, please donate, and if you are currently unable to donate, please share this link to your social media page(s).

This is only the beginning for the Bedford County Players.

We appreciate all of your help!

Sincerely,

Shane Lynn and the Board of The Bedford County Players
